$%*'`[pondhopper]%*'`@We're a US family just back from a trip to Europe. We wanted to get beyond the usual tourist trail and fly to few small airports. Went to Poprad in Slovakia, which we'd never heard of till we read hidden europe magazine. Thought it deserves a mention. They have a good website athttp://www.hiddeneurope.co.uk. We found their mag in Paris, and it had lots of good tips on offbeat flights and travel round Europe. Another resource we found useful was the German railways website onhttp://www.bahn.de, which even for trains in Britain, seemed a better source of info, that even the BritRail site.

$%*'`[Emlyn Davies]%*'`@Spot on pondhopper! The Deutsche Bahn website (www.bahn.de) is very good for rail info, although note that not all stations are shown once you get into eastern Europe and the Balkans. For train travel info, the Thomas Cook European Timetable is hard to beat. Published monthly, I think (details at www.thomascookpublishing.com). And the magazine you point to, Hidden Europe, is absolutely first class for those more offbeat spots that most travel journalists never reach. As well as the actual mag, they have a free e-news which you can sign up for on their website at www.hiddeneurope.co.uk.

The latest seasonal edition of the rail timetable is the

Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable: Winter 2006-2007

and the forthcoming edition is

Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable: Spring 2007
