$%*'`[AJ]%*'`@I'm plannning a trip to Iceland during the end of Feb, early March. Has anybody been during that time of year? Any suggestions of things to do that are off the beaten path?

Sorry about the delay in responding - it's the Christmas break and everyone is off.
I think you will find most places which are "off the beaten track" to be out of bounds in March and April, even if you have a 4x4 vehicle with chains. However there is no shortage of of a good time to be had in Reykjavik and Akureyri, if you are content to look at the glaciers from afar.
By April, you will probably be able to venture out of Reykjavik to the Thingvellir Plains - the historic location of the Icelandic assembly - and also visit the nearby Gullfoss Waterfalls, and Strokkur, a spectactular waterspout located not far fromthe original (and now dormant) Great Geysir.
Keep an eye on the Iceland Express Special Offers as these flights are by far the cheapest way to fly to and from Iceland.
