OK... please don't start throwing things at me, but has anybody heard this yet?
I picked it up yesterday and was really impressed.
OK, not with Bob's voice... it's not like his voice was ever his strong suit, but now it is totally shot.
What impressed me was the production and the song arrangements, done by Dylan himself under the moniker of 'Jack Frost'.
If you listen to the instrumentation and background vocals, you'd think at times that Mr. Zimmerman was singing over a 'Living Voices' song bed... that's right, I said it... LOL!
I came away from the disc with the feeling that Dylan really had an appreciation for the glory days of Christmas Music and they must have impacted him somehow, because this isn't a sound you can just do off the cuff in 2009.
This is an old soul, with an even older voice celebrating the songs of Christmas... and that's what it's all about... we may not have the best voices, but it never stops us from belting out a chestnut to one of our kids, or singing loudly and proudly during a Christmas Mass.  Add to this the fact that Dylan is doing this all for charity and you have to applaud the man for getting into the Christmas Spirit for all the right reasons.
I give it a big thumbs up!

Welcome to the message board, Jack; glad to have you with us.

It's sad to hear how bad Dylan's voice has gotten over the years -- it's even worse than Sinatra's had gotten at the end. It's sad to hear, but I give him credit for doing it for charity.

I was almost afraid to get this.  In fact, I still haven't.  But I've heard good buzz about it... just like that advertising slogan for New Jersey - "Look before you laugh."

What are the best tracks?  Maybe I'll ease into it by downloading 2 or 3 songs first.

Not too long ago, I gave in and actually bought a Christmas CD by Billy Idol and was pleasantly surprised.

Honoring the music of the Yule Log...
An era when that sound on your radio was music and it was called Beautiful Music for a reason.

I'm a big Dylan fan; I have all of his albums and have seen him in concert several times. However, I struggle with Christmas In The Heart. I have two main problems with it. First, the song selection. In my opinion, the best song is "Must Be Santa", and, I expected more songs in that vein. That is, more fun, rollicking songs that suit his current musical style and his current voice.

And, that is the second problem - Dylan's voice. And I "get" Dylan's voice and vocal style; I think he was one of the great singers. Seriously. But, his voice has deteriorated over the years, and it has reached the point where he can't pull off certain styles of songs. On Christmas In The Heart, for some reason, he chose several slower Christmas carols, which, frankly, don't sound suited to his damaged voice. I had hoped for faster, "fun" holiday songs, utilizing Dylan's sense of humor and rambling sound.

I gotta agree with Max_Cherry

I get Dylan and his voice...long time fan.  His voice is bad now.  Must Be Santa was the best thing on this album.  I bought it, and love the charity aspect, but if you're expecting Dylan at his prime, this isn't it.
