Hi everyone,

Please help this Christmas birthday girl find a track listing of an old compilation (Time Life, perhaps?) that my parents had on tape when I was a little girl (so probably in the late 70s, maybe early 80s).  There were two tapes, and I remember a few of the tracks that I have not ever seen in any other compilation, so these might help distinguish it from other old collections:

Blue Christmas - Wayne Newton
Christmas Eve in My Hometown - Bobby Vinton
Christmas Bells - Patti Page

It also has lots of the "classic" versions, which I haven't listed here, because they show up on lots of different compilations and would not be distinguishing.  I've never seen the three songs above on any other compilation.  It also had this hillbilly style duet of "Jingle Bells" where these old country singers had given it quite an overhaul.  There was also a version of Little Drummer Boy that was very slow, and sung by a choir, all in a pretty high pitch.

I would LOVE it if someone has the answer to this!  It's definitely not any of the Time Life collections listed here:

For one thing, they are too new, and for another thing, I can tell by the track listing that they are different.

Thank you!

Welcome to the board, Nicole.

Sorry, but of the many compilations I have, none have that particular combination of songs. Perhaps someone else on the board will be able to help you.

Thanks so much.  I have actually learned that it was a two-tape Columbia House compilation from 1975 entitled "Merry Christmas - 36 Favorite Songs - 36 Great Artists."  The number printed on the tape is T21 6306.

The first song on volume 1 is "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" by Debbie Reynolds, and the last song on volume 1 is "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town by Ray Conniff.  The first song on volume 2 is "Let It Snow!" by Dean Martin, and the last song on volume 2 is "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" by Philadelphia Orchestra.  I have 24 of the 36 songs.

I'm looking for the track listing of the other tape from the collection.  There should be 12 songs on that tape.

Thank you!!

Hi Nicole, I bought the 3LP set from Columbia House a few decades ago, so there are 6 sides of music. My LP1 and LP2 match your songs exactly.
Record Three is as follows:
Side One:
"Unto Us A Child is Born" - E.Power Biggs & Col. Chamber Sym.
"Frosty the Snowman" - Gene Autry
"Sleigh Ride" - Arthur Fiedler & Boston Pops
"I'll Be Home For Christmas" - Doris Day
"Silent Night" - Ray Price
"O Come All Ye Faithful" - Al Martino
Side Two:
"There's No Place Like Home" - Glen Campbell
"Joy to the World" - Mormon Tabernacle Choir/Phil.Brass Ensemble
"The Christmas Song" - Jim Nabors
"Hark the Herald Angels Sing" - Percy Faith
"That Holiday Feeling" - Steve & Eydie
"Auld Lang Syne" - Lester Lanin

Anything else I can do for you?

Thank you SO MUCH!  This is exactly what I was looking for!  Now I can create a digital version of my favorite childhood compilation.  This is such a huge help!  Merry Christmas!
