Or, if it's too difficult to pick just one, list your top 3-5.

I think my number one spot would go to the original artwork for Percy Faith's Music of Christmas (1954), with the little girl clutching the dolly and drowsing next to Dad dressed as Santa. (I'm a sucker for sentiment, what can I say? :D)

I also very much like Leroy Anderson's Christmas Carols (yes, the white kitten cover).

George Melachrino's Christmas Joy would probably round out my top 3.

Though there are a lot to choose from I'll go with the following three:
The original Percy Faith Music of Christmas
Christmas with Ed Ames
Wonderland of Christmas Andre Kostelanetz

There are so many great covers, but these are the Top 3:

Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians ~ 'Twas The Night Before Christmas:
(with the famous cover artwork by Norman Rockwell)

Percy Faith ~ Music Of Christmas:

Leroy Anderson ~ Christmas Carols:

I always liked this cover from the 1971 volume of Christmas songs from W.T. Grants.

Genoman, I never knew W T Grants ever released a Christmas album.  The cover you posted is from 1971 and only five years later in 1976, Grants was out of business!  How fast things change!

Frank,

I'm surprised you weren't aware that Grants had released a series of Christmas albums. This series, along with the Goodyear series, were the best of the company sponsored Christmas album compilations.

The best volumes in the Grants series were Vol. 1 (1967), Vol. 4 (1970 and Vol. 5 (1971). For a look at the entire 8-volume Grants series,

Chip and friends,

I just happen to be cruising the message board because I received an email from Amazon.com about the release of a Mantovani's Golden Hits, and I was trying to find any info on it.  And I stumbled across the record covers.  They brought tears to my eyes, because I, too, am very sentimental.

And Chip,
thank you for the link for the WT Grant Volumes.

Lisa Maria

Lisa,

I'm glad you enjoyed viewing the album cover artworks I posted. They just don't make them like that anymore!

By the way, the new Mantovani CD you were questioning is an import from the U.K. It was released by Dutton-Vocalion and the disc includes two of Monty's later albums. Here are the details:

Mantovani’s Golden Hits (1967)

Charmaine
Moon River
The Moulin Rouge Theme
Summertime in Venice
Diane
Exodus Main Theme
Greensleeves
True Love
La Vie en Rose
Around the World
Some Enchanted Evening
Swedish Rhapsody

More Mantovani Golden Hits (1976)

Cara Mia
Stranger in Paradise
Gigi
Deep Purple
A Certain Smile
Limelight
The Way You Look Tonight
Love is a Many Splendored Thing
Long Ago (And Far Away)
Till
A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening
Together

Perry Como Sings Merry Christmas Music from 1956, the one with a picture of Perry inside a Christmas ball. If I knew how to scan it on here I would!

My favorite is "The Spirit of Christmas" by The Living Strings.

I really enjoy the candle and yule type setting on this one and even use a scanned Jpeg of it for a screen saver for my computer during the holidays.

Here's a scan of "Perry Como Sing Merry Christmas Music".

You can also view a beautiful scan of Leroy Anderson's "Christmas Carols"

I've always loved the "ornament" covers of Kostelanetz's Wonderland of Christmas and Faith's Christmas Is.

Are both the Percy Faith and Andre Kostelanetz covers designed by Burt Grodel? Has anyone seen any other covers designed by Burt Grodel?

Tough Question.
Ray Conniff's 2nd Christmas LP with the 'Santa Girl & 2 guys';
The manger scene on the retitled "Music of Christmas Volume 2" from Percy Faith;
The original 1954 "Music of Christmas" fake Santa with daughter cover
The 1985 or 86 Time-Life 3-LP Christmas set that was released on a double-CD a year or two later.

Wow, there's too many not to like...

jinglero,
The Percy Faith cover was done by Sandy Speiser. The only other album cover I can find credited to Bert Groedel is Surprises, a non-Christmas 1976 release by jazz flautist Herbie Mann.

Thank you Mike! I hope there are some more examples of both of these cover artists work floating around out there!

Another classic Christmas LP featuring cover art by Mr. (or is it Ms.?) Speiser:
