Chip, I've read the Dean Martin Family Trust licensed his Reprise recordings, which would include his second Christmas album,  to Sony Music. Is that true?

Sorry about my typo in the spelling of your name, CHIP!

Skip: I think this MCA label was used between the black and blue rainbow labels.

I listened to my copy of the Jack Jones Christmas album again, and while it's not a needle drop that someone thinks it is on Amazon, it's sounds to me that it's been remastered from a less than pristine source tape. I'm thinking the original master was probably destroyed in the disastrous Universal Music Group vault fire in 2008, and Real Gone had to use a secondary source.

Rich: wait until you hear the sound quality of the Eddy Arnold disc  ...

Since Real Gone has these up on their website for pre-order, I thought I'd start my Christmas shopping early and place my order today!

A very impressive line-up of releases Chip...I hope my wallet can handle it!

In the email you sent to me, you mentioned that "The
Fred Waring & the Pennsylvanians Decca Records Christmas albums will
hopefully be secured for release next year in
Is the hold-up possibly due to finding usable elements because of the Universal Music Group vault fire in 2008?

Amazon has sent me an email saying this won't be released until December 18 ... just one week before Christmas.

Real Gone has announced on their Facebook page and website their October 2/October 9 releases with classic Christmas albums from Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Soulful Strings, George Melachrino, The Three Suns, and John Gary. They also say on their Facebook page that this is one of two releases of holiday titles for 2015.

I hope all goes well with the negotiations with UMG ... maybe the Decca Fred Waring Christmas material will finally see the light of day on CD.

Last year, UMG re-issued Bing Crosby's "Merry Christmas", "Christmas with the Chipmunks" and the soundtrack of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" on vinyl. They used the original artwork (the Chimpunks has a foil cover!) and labels. Unfortunately the vinyl is a bit noisy on the Chipmunks LP. I haven't played the Crosby and Rudolph LPs yet, as I just got my turntable up and running again and have been transferring some other LPs to CD. I just bought them for the novelty.
