i would also be very interested in this playlist. Years ago, my father had an old audio recording of the Yule Log on reel to reel. The only thing I could remember was that the first song was still Percy Faith's "Joy to the World", but the 2nd song was not The Pennsylvanian's "A Musical Christmas Card".

Does anyone remember the easy listening station WPAT in Patterson NJ? Every Christmas Eve WPAT would start their "Spirit of Christmas" music marathon which was 36 hours of commercial free continuous Christmas music. Other radio stations hosted similar broadcasting, but WPAT was the clear favorite. My family would always have this playing on Christmas Eve, switching only for the Yule Log later in the evening. One Christmas Eve, I recorded the first 6 hours (12 PM - 6 PM Christmas Eve 1987) of the WPAT broadcast to cassette tapes. My parents found these tapes last year and converted the recordings to CD.
For anyone interested, I am listing the WPAT playlist for the first 6 hours of the "Spirit of Christmas" below. As you can see, there are many Yule Log artists included: lots of Percy Faith, David Rose and Mantovani. With the help of apps like Shazam and Sound Hound, I was able to identify almost all of the songs:

Does anyone know if the 2016 Real Gone edition of Mantovani's Christmas Carols any different than the 2009 Collector's Choice CD? The track listing looks exactly the same. Is the 2016 version remastered?

Almost all of the songs on the original 3 hour Yule Log are available either on CD (with thanks to Chip and Real Gone Music!) or digitally. The one exception that comes to mind is the song "Christmas is Christmas" by the Singing Angels.
You could make a playlist of all of the available songs and have an almost complete soundtrack of the Yule Log.

I appreciate the help anyway! I tried my music recognition apps (Shazam and Soundhound) but no luck!

 Hello all!
I was finally able to obtain a recording of the Patapan/Jingle Bells medley that I've been trying to identify. Years ago, I gave my parents some old audio cassette tapes which included the first 6 hours of the WPAT "Spirit of Christmas" from 1987. They found the tapes, and I was able to convert these tapes from cassette to CD, then to digital files. Since they were recorded directly from the FM radio using an analog tape, the quality isn't that great, but it is a small miracle that they survived!
Anyway, I posted the song below. It sounds unusually electronic for WPAT! Any help with identifying the artist would be greatly appreciated!

That would be great Chip! Interestingly, I heard "Pine Cones" played a lot last December on Sirius's Escape channel. Arguably his most well-known Christmas song?

 Hi Will,
The best I can describe it is that it was all instrumental, with a leading flute and it started with Patapan in minor key. Then it segued into Jingle Bells changing to a major key, then back to Patapan in minor key. I guess it was the key changes that intrigued me and set this version of Patapan apart from others.
It's hard to remember when I haven't heard some of these songs in close to 20-30 years! The audio tapes I made of Christmas music during the 36 hour commercial free radio marathons are sadly long gone.

 Hi Will,
No luck (yet) on the Patapan/Jingle Bells medley.

During one of my google searches for a Christmas song, i stumbled upon this newspaper pdf from 1980 (see page 22):

I remember seeing these full page ads from one of the NYC area easy listening radio stations (not sure which one!) during the 80's. It would be great to get the playlist for the WPAT "Spirit of Christmas" 36 hour radio marathon but I don't think they ever published it.

Anyway, the playlist in this Michigan newspaper is very interesting with some familiar artists and songs. And the rest of the newspaper is a blast from the past!

 Hello all!
Is this song available anymore? I noticed that it was originally found on one of his non-Christmas albums, but even that is out of print! Most of Frank Chacksfield's Christmas songs can be found on the "Golden Age of Light Music" compilations (ITunes, Emusic, Amazon) but I have not been able to find this song anywhere. Hopefully it is on a compilation.

I found the version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" that I could not identify - right in my own collection!
It is found on the great album "The Glorious Sound of Christmas" by Eugene Ormandy & the Philadelphia Orchestra. Thanks for all those who replied!

Christmas Strings 1 is still available on Emusic, but volume 2 has disappeared. All is not lost though, I found it on another site called "7Digital":

Hi Sue,
Sadly I have not had any luck with that one! Hopefully someone will remember since you raised the topic again!
