Thanks for the suggestion. However, the last thing Joe and I need is another project! We have had our hands full enough this year between all our work on the project for WPIX, adding new features to the site, revamping the music section, answering posts on the message board -- gee whillikers, brother -- we need to breath!

I think you can see by the times on the myriad of posts I've made tonight -- I haven't gone to bed. In fact, the sun is poking through my window as I write this post -- Jumpin' Jiminy Christmas Batman, I better sign off!

Which is exactly what I intend to do with the conclusion of this post.

Now, what was that you asked about? -- Oh, a fan club? -- Perhaps in 2007?

Dear Guru and Xmas lover...while the thought of a fan club for the YL may sound very ideal, the use of this website has been extremely helpful already therefore, I see no use in incorporating a fan club at this time since the pros (Joe and Guru) have worked hard enough already in providing us with this site which I consider a present to open almost everyday to see what new posts there are! Hey Guru...by all means...breathe plenty, man! No one is asking you to go to extremes with this site...we like updates but we want you to take things nice and slow. We have 3 and a half months till X-mas so you have plenty of time. I wish I could help you 2 do a lttle research but I wouldn't know where to start. The only thing I did so far was send a copy of the YL ad from the Daily News from 1966. Guru, I don't know how old you are or where you live and whether you wish to reveal that info about yourself on this site but it HAS aroused my curiosity!

R.D.,

Heartfelt thanks for the kind words you expressed in your post. Believe me when I say, and I speak for Joe on this as well, all that we do on behalf of the Yule Log is a labor of unbridled love.

Let me also take this time to thank everyone out there for your participation on the board, and your great questions.

With regard to your curiosity about Joe and I: We both live in New Jersey, I am 45 and Joe is 39.

Folks,

There is a Yule Log group on Yahoo Groups that currently has really low membership, perhaps we can get a bunch of us to join and use that as a fan club??

http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/wpixyulelog/?yguid=245752866

Well, naturally, those of you on the board can choose to do that if you'd like, but you would only be doing yourself a great disservice. Folks, if you want the real McCoy -- this is where it's at. This is the one and only website and message board for the Yule Log that has been officially sanctioned by WPIX. The rest are imitations, and poor ones at that. What's more, you will not find anyone you can consult with like Joe and I on this Yahoo message board, or for that matter, any other spurious Yule Log message boards that may be out there. In addition, I put up no false pretenses of modesty when I say categorically and unequivocally, that nobody knows more about this program, or has worked harder, longer and more passionately than Joe and I to preserve, promote and protect the legacy of this beloved institution.

Furthermore, it is usually through casual and unofficial groups like this one on Yahoo, where false and inaccurate information is so very often disseminated. To that end, I will tell you right now, and in no uncertain terms, that this will never happen here on this site. If any information is posted on the board, which we find to be incorrect, we set the record straight (politely of course). It is here, and only here, where you can be sure to get accurate and unassailable information about the WPIX Yule Log that is beyond reproach.

Now, as far as using this Yahoo group as a forum where, as described on their web page, " fans can share their memories of the Yule Log"...well, I ask you: Given this site, isn't that a little superfluous? With this resource at your disposal, there is no inherent reason why anyone needs to look beyond their own backyard for their hearts desire.

Notwithstanding this however, I think I'll join this Yahoo group -- so I can tell the one person who has filed a post thus far (according to the message history that's posted on the page), to abandon ship and join us here @ The Yule Log.com.

By the way, if it isn't obvious by now how very passionate and protective Joe and I are about the Yule Log -- well, when we make our announcement about this years 40th anniversary broadcast, I think it will more than obvious then.

PS - In my next post folks, I promise to be back to my old amiable self.

Hi Guru,

I believe that this is in fact the place to be, and although I don't post here too often, I'm usually looking around to see what's going on.  However, I feel the Yahoo group is an extension of this and not a competitor.  There is no competition for this fine site that Joe has worked so hard to produce.  Just my 2 cents worth.

Henry

OK Stop the presses - As much as I have going on right now, I had to stop and post for this one. Henry, I appreciate you checking to see what's out there. Heck, if I didn't do the same I never would've found the Jump The Shark dis on the Log. However my friend, Chip (as usual) is right smack on the money here. That's not to say your "2 cents" isn't worth anything. You have been a long time supporter of this site and I appreciate that and value you (I think you know that). But let me tell you a little story... About 7 or 8 months ago, I was poking around for info on the show and found material blatently lifted right off the Yule Log.com and posted to the Classic Element Vintage 11 Alive Yahoo group. Believe me, both Chip and I are all for exposure for not just this program but for WPIX itself as I am a diehard PIX buff. Yet, there it was posted right on the Yahoo group which I am proud to say I am a member of. The moderator of the group has been wonderful and since removed any material lifted off my site. It's taken me 5 years to get the Yule Log.com to where it is. I've had the support, cooperation and contributions of many out there including the creator of the show's son, the wife of it's producer, major New York newspapers and radio stations not to mention the TV station it premiered on 40 years ago! For another group or individual to come and lift items off my site that I've worked so hard to acquire is just plain wrong! Also, I'm hoping I don't see items off my site on the Yahoo Yule Log site. If visitors to the Yahoo Group want to indeed share their memories of the Yule Log, I'm all for it. It's all about keeping the program buzzing and whether folks do it here or there doesn't really concern me - just as long as they do it. Just have the respect and common courtesy to respect my work. - Oh yeah, future posts will find me back to my old amiable self as well!

Hey Joe...nice to see you back. I was afraid you were asleep at the helm for a minute! So I must point out 1 small observation on this site? Not that I'm trying to compete here, but how do you explain having only silver member status as the administrator and Mr. Guru and I are already up to Platinum and Gold status respectively? As the Administrator and the one who started up all this great info,I thought you would have been ahead of us all by now! Just joking of course but I still wanted to point it out. No offense.

R.D.,

It is only by virtue of a division of duties between Joe and I, that Joe's number of posts on the board, and consequently his membership status, happens to be what it is. Generally, the message board falls under my jurisdiction and this results in the disproportionate number between our post totals.

Thank you richiedoo! None taken. Damn! I thought Chip was the only one who noticed that. I know, isn't it a shame. tsk tsk my own site even!

Not to worry though, as Christmas gets closer, I'll be back to my old self. Besides, I know you, Chip and Henry will be posting enough. There may not even be room for me by November!!!!!

THANK YOU Henry!

By the lack of a response, I was beginning to think people on the board were taking that seriously!

I'm glad to know that Joe and I aren't the only fans of the Honeymooners on the board!

Don't forget that Ralph invented wall paper that glows in the dark, and has an Uranium mine field in Asbury Park.

Hello ball. What's more stupid, saying Tally-Ho to a fox or saying hello to a golf ball.

Hello non-believer. Maybe we can say something about spear fishing.

Well, as everyone can see, in addition to our beloved Yule Log, this was another great service that WPIX provided for us over the years -- a lifetime of great memories of the Honeymooners.

Thank you Channel 11 WPIX!

By the way, that ought to be the request for the next write-in campaign: To get WPIX to reinstate the Honeymooners on late night TV!

Are you with me folks???

Oh you're a riot Richiedoo -- a regular riot.

I hope they like those jokes on the moon -- cause that's where you're going!

But to answer your question: if it was for Bert Wedemeyer's wife, the seductive and voluptuous Rita -- then I have to say pouring out my heart. By the way, I'm sure most people would agree that the only reason she married Bert is because he makes one hell of a good short bread cookie.

However, if it's for Harvey, the thug at Kelsey's gym, then I guess I'd have to say pouring out my liver. Now don't tell anyone I told you, but I believe Captain Video also works out at Kelsey's gym. Now remember, this is on the Q.T. buddy.

I'm with you but let's add The Odd Couple to that write-in campaign.  Those 2 shows go well together.  Odd Couple at 11 and Honeymooners at 11:30, just like old times.

Just to let you chaps know (and I only know this because I've been looking and waiting for it for so long now). The Odd Couple TV show season one is now available on DVD. If you're a fan like me, then I suggest you buy it like I did. It's only 30 bucks. Time Life probably won't release seasons 2-5 if season one doesn't sell so if you want to see the whole series released BUY THIS ONE!
