I posted this on the TCM message board yesterday and thought that I would post it here on my message board as well for those many classic Christmas music lovers, who, like me, are also classic movie lovers as well (movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood).

For those of you who may not have been aware, the great film historian and host of TCM, Robert Osborne, is on an extended leave of absence from the network which began last July 11 following a minor operation. TCM had originally announced that the leave of absence would be for three months, giving Bob an extended recovery and vacation period. However, it turns out that Bob will be taking a little extra time off than was originally planned -- which, I might add, is well-deserved considering that this is his first vacation from TCM since he began his hosting duties in 1994 when the network premiered!

Posted below is the message that I had originally posted on the TCM message board yesterday:

In a conversation I had with a producer at TCM yesterday, I ascertained that Bob Osborne will begin taping new wrap-arounds (movie intros and outros) beginning in late October or early November. And since wrap-arounds are usually taped 2-3 weeks in advance, they will begin airing in late November or early December.

The guest hosts are doing a good job, but I really can't wait for his return!

Viva Bob!!

RE:The Return of Robert Osborne to TCM (Turner Classic Movies)
(Date Posted:10/04/2011 01:34)

Without divulging the details of how it came about, I spoke to Robert Osborne earlier today and he is doing quite well, sounding great and thoroughly enjoying his vacation. I just wanted to mention that one of the things that I asked him is if he will continue doing the full wrap-arounds (intros and outros) for the films when he returns to TCM later this fall, and he assured me that he absolutely will! The 'intros only' format that TCM is currently practicing with the guest hosts is only temporary until he returns. So no worries; we will get Robert back 100% when he returns! Oh, and Robert told me that he really liked my Barrymore's Star of the Month suggestion and that he hoped TCM chief Charlie Tabesh will do it!

By the way, this December TCM will premiere the fourth installment of their TCM 'Night at the Movies' documentary series. And the big news is that this installment will focus on Christmas Movies! The title will be, TCM Night at the Movies: Merry Christmas! It should be a great special and it will premiere on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 8:00pm (EST), with encore showings that night at 11pm and 5:30am. The special will also encore again on December 18 at 12pm and December 20th at 10pm. Enjoy!
