Though this has nothing to do with Christmas, I'd like to honor one of my all-time favorites: Peter Falk as Columbo.

RIP Lieutenant...

Yes, it was a sad thing to hear.  I wish they would've used a better picture of him in the news article I saw.  He was barely recognizable.

He was one of my favorites too and I alway love the way he played like he wasn't that smart, but he really did solve the cases.

Rich Little used his character in "Rich Little's Christmas Carol" and he did a pretty good job of impersonating him.

Peter will sorely be missed.

I found the YouTube clip but you have to skip ahead to about 5:26 to where Columbo's Character comes in as the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Chip, Not to detract from your post of the Columbo Theme, but I thought because Henri Mancini composed it that it would be nice to post the entire sound clip from Youtube here also being Henry Mancini is one of the Masters on The Yule Log Soundtrack.  Note, it is a slight variation because near the beginning around 0:09, someone ran their fingers across the harp strings, on the clip you posted, but on this sound clip I posted, you don't hear that at the same point but you do hear it a little later and it isn't as noticeable.

That Rich Little Christmas show was funny. I always enjoyed his impersonations. It's too bad you don't see him around too much anymore.

And no, you didn't detract from my post by posting the full version of the theme song by Henry Mancini. It was nice to hear it again.

Thanks Chip,

Yes, Rich Little is a great Impersonator.  I actually have this movie, but don't have everything installed back on my computer so I could rip the scenes I wanted but it was nice at the end of his version that he redid each character as it it was them thanking him.  I was hoping to be able to post a YouTube clip of the end of Rich Little's Christmas Carol, but there wasn't a short enough clip posted and I didn't want to waste space.

Though this is an entirely different subject, when they were filming, I believe, Trail of The Pink Panther, David Niven had larangytis and they used Rich Little's voice for David's parts.  If it wasn't Trail of The Pink Panther, it might have been Revenge of The Pink Panther.

When they released Rich Little's Christmas Carol on DVD, they also included his version of Robin Hood, but I've only watched it once so I don't remember all the characters he impersonated in that movie.   It would be nice to see Rich Little do more.  But I don't even think he has been on any talk shows or anything since the 1980's.

Chip,

I just had to laugh at your post title: "My Columbo is dead"...

That's a classic by-line! Good copywriting Chip.

What a character for the decades...

I gave a bunch of VHS tapes to a friend over the Summer and he texted, "William (8 year old son) and I are watching your Columbo tapes."  I nearly fainted.

My Best,
Diane

Nice to hear your friend is introducing Columbo to his son.

And yes, the Lieutenant is definitely a character for the ages.
