Many of you are posting questions as to the authenticity of Yule Log programs being shown in your cities. Keep in mind that thestations pageon the Yule Log.com is the ONLY official list of WPIX version showings. For example, WATL in Atlanta is showing a Yule Log on Christmas morning from 3AM to 9AM. I have been in contact with them and this production was taped at the Four Seasons in Atlanta. Other stations are prohibited from showing the PIX version if they are not owned by Tribune Company. The rule is this: If it's not Tribune owned, it is not the WPIX Yule Log.

Speaking of "knock off" Yule Logs, WFMZ in Allentown, PA is doing one that is as plastic as my debit card Christmas morning from 6 AM to 10 AM and is sponsored by a wood stove company!

I was watching the premiere of the new special, A Log's Life, when I saw a couple of examples of these so-called Yule Logs (I believe one of them was WATL which Joe had mentioned). These phony wannabe imitators cannot hold a candle to the original WPIX Yule Log. Accept no imitations! Enough said.

Darn tootin!  LOL!  Those other "logs" just don't do it for me.  There is no warmth & feeling there.  Fred Thrower & his fantastic crew captured the mood & feeling perfectly!

Bay News 9 here in Florida tried their best with "A Bay News 9 Yule Log",but fell short of the overall "Warmth" and character of the ORIGINAL ONE-AND-ONLY Yule Log! WPIX Yule Log..or NOTHING,THANK YOU!! Michael Boyce

And I hate to make a bump on this topic, but some peoples have been posting COPYRIGHTED BY WPIX footage of The WPIX Yule Log on YouTube!  This is a major infringement.

UPDATE: I have informed the proper folks at Tribune Broadcasting, and they're going to have them pull the material off ASAP.

UPDAT #2: Tribune still has not done anything about these copyright violators.  Maybe it's time someone in Chicago Legal wake up and smell the insense.

My cable company, Comcast, has their own cheesy version of The Yule Log for their On Demand digital cable channel. Instead of a calm, comforting crackling sound of a fire burning in the firplace, it sounds like a raging inferno!

Scenery of Florida itself w/music would be a nice presentation, but...no. PIX Yule Log is still the best! :-)

Follow-up to above message:

Also, there was a knockoff of sorts seen within the Beavis and Butt-head universe, during B&B's first Christmas special where they do nothing but watch TV.  Naturally they just watch and critique holiday music videos, and every so often come to a cheaply-made YL ripoff.  Eventually deciding that since it is going on for so long, it must be a Christmas movie, like the ones where that "Willy Wanker dude has to go to his home planet," or "The Grunge Who Stole Christmas."

I know most people remember the B&B special with the 2-3 shorts, but this was really great too.  If you like that sort of thing.
