Now I am watching the other MST3K episode (which riffs on "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians") and in one of the host segments (skits in breaks during the movie), Joel mentions a version of IAWL mentioned in the subject.  Now unless I wasn't looking carefully on IMDB, I saw no mention of such a movie.  So was it just a joke?

Nope, it's real. But the title is It Happened One Christmas, made in 1977. Also stars (hold yer breath!) Wayne Rogers, Cloris Leachman, Christopher Guest, C. Thomas Howell (sorry...had to add that one) and....ORSON WELLES!!!

How did I miss that?  Probably the "new" title.  Then again, EVERYTHING in the history of the world borrowed from IAWL at one time or another, so it's not like an elusive plot to steal.   

And actually, parts of that cast make me want to see it MORE.  Especially the "Dancing" showstealer herself, Cloris Leachman.  Hmmmmm....now I am wondering....what if, sometime in the '60s, WJM-TV's 6:00 news needed a new weather person while Gordie was on an extended vacation.  Then Lou Grant happens to catch a certain commercial taped in NY and decides they could use a weather girl, particularly...THAT GIRL! 

As a result, Ann Marie has to come to Minneapolis for a while and decides on a certain apartment that doesn't seem to keep the same tenant for long.  But what will she do when she meets her new landlord...PHYLLIS LINDSTROM??????? :-)

There's only one "It's A Wonderful Life" and that's the one with James Stewart and Donna Reed from 1946.  It's a timeless classic. 

It didn't do well at the box office in its day and was very nearly lost.  When the patent ran out about 25 years after it's release, it became a TV staple every holiday season and found new generations of admirers.  Home video put Frank Capra's classic into many more homes.  "It's  A Wonderful Life" to me at least is required viewing every Christmas season.  I don't have to schedule time to watch it on NBC as I have the 60th Anniversary DVD edition. 

It doesn't matter that they can't make this one in to HD or Surround Sound.  It's a beautiful film just the way it is!
