(anyone's guess if this belongs in General or in Holiday Music, since I don't know if there were any traditional Christmas songs on this or not)

This will come as an odd first post on this forum, since it's not related to YL music in any way. But then we're also about as far from Christmas as we can get at the moment, and this puzzle just came up within the past week or so.

I am on the hunt for an LP of Children's music. From what I can recall from my vaseline-lens memories of childhood, Jack Frost was the focus. I believe the record was entirely a collection of songs related to winter. The album cover featured a couple of little elf-like characters with paint brushes and cans, painting snow and ice on a landscape to turn it into winter. The only song I know for certain that was on this record was entitled, "Oh, Jack Frost." (took me FOREVER to find this song, because I remembered it as "Old Jack Frost."

The current (allegedly) copyright owner of the song also owns this website.

http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/o058.html

The copyright is listed as 1998. When I heard this record played in my gradeschool classroom, it was early 80's, so I'm guessing the song was purchased from someone else. Either that or Kididdles only owns the lyrics to the version adapted by Terry Kluytmans (the lyrics do seem somewhat different from what I remember).

Kididdles only posts one contact email, and it seems to be strictly for privacy policy questions. I emailed them the moment I found the lyrics and after more than two weeks, have received no response. This isn't too surprising since the site seems incredibly 'hands off.'

I had hoped that talking to someone at this company would lead me further down the trail to locating, at the very least, the name of the album that had this song. But since it seems unlikely I'm going to get an answer, I'm hoping that one of the holiday music masters here might no more about it. I know it's a long-shot since this music is hardly the kind of thing that one would relax in the living room listening to, but maybe, just maybe someone has a clue of what I'm talking about, or is more skilled in tracking down music copyright info than I am.

Welcome to the message board.

I think I have a faint recollection of this winter-themed children's album that you are alluding to; but I will have to check my archives which I keep at an off-site location. The next time I'm there I'll do some digging and if I can come up with anything I will certainly let you know.

Still no luck in tracking down the Jack Frost LP; however, posted below is a picture of a cover from an LP that is quite similar to the one that you described in your post. I'll continue to keep an eye out for the Jack Frost LP, and if I find it, I'll let you know.

Heh, for a split second, I jumped as I saw the picture, and then the "That's not it" quickly sunk in.

I might end up picking up a copy of that LP anyhow though.

Is that the one you owned that you thought was right album, or was it just something you happened upon?

No, this is not the album I was thinking of in my archives; so there's still a chance it might turn up. This other album I stumbled across while on eBay and it's currently available as a "Buy It Now."
