Gee, reading all the comments in other thread about the songs in the Yule Log broadcast makes me feel like I've really been missing out on something wonderful all these years.

I live out in Seattle and I guess I would qualify as what they used to call a "media isolate" because I don't have a high speed internet connection, no cable or cable or satellite TV, and no smart phone.   So I'm really out of the media loop these days.

I'm wondering how I could arrange to enjoy the Yule Log broadcast this year.

Do they stream it on the internet?  Maybe I could ask someone I know to use their DVR to record it and burn it to CDs for me?

Any ideas?

Will,
Do you have a TV that has local stations on it?  If so, it is being shown in Seattle on Seattle/KZJO from 7AM to 11AM, Chistmas morning.

Thanks, Henry!!!

I do have a digital converter box hooked up to my TV (and sometimes it actually works!).

I just tuned in to KZJO on channel 22 and it's coming in just fine, right now.

I didn't recognize those call letters in your message because that station has changed its call letters four times in the last 25 years and I'm just getting too old to keep up with all the changes.

I never would have figured out that was a station I can watch if you hadn't pointed me to it.

Thanks again!   This is my first Christmas present of the season!

Will,

Your timing is perfect because this is the first year that Seattle will be showing the full program that includes my new fourth hour. By the way, the complete Tribune affiliate Yule Log broadcast schedule is on both the message board (Click Here) and the main website (Click Here).

Thanks, Chip!

I am really looking forward to this.

I've never seen the Yule Log before.

So I'm pleased to find out that we'll be receiving the entire four hours on a channel that I can receive on my old fashioned hand-me-down TV.

The Yule Log is also in parts on You Tube. If you get You Tube downloader you can  download the individual portions. There are suppose to be ways to add them together but I've had no luck with that.  Sounds like you should be able to record it since your Seattle station KZJO will show it!

I also did a project of finding all the songs on the Yule Log and have made CD's and DVD's to play! I added them on a playlist to my IPOD and PC so I can hear them when I want! It isn't the WPIX Yule Log with its beautiful fire burning but you can at least hear them. A confession here...I did cheat! I could not find a few songs so I ended up recording them on my PC with a patch cord to my PC. One big source was You Tube. With the You Tube downloader you can convert the video into audio only. I also used Amazon and other internet music providers to get some songs, At 99 cents each though, the 3 or 4 hour Yule Log will cost you a few $$$$.

Best Regards and Merry Christmas,

Ray

An internet friend has offered to record The Yule Log onto his DVR for me this year and then burn it to DVDs for me and mail them to me.

Ain't the internet wonderful!

P.S.  Thanks, Ray, for that tip about the YouTube downloader!

Well, I received in the mail yesterday the DVDs of Seattle's Yule Log broadcast, which was recorded for me by an internet friend here in Seattle.

I'm sorry to report that the audio has a lot of glitches in it.

I can hardly complain to the guy who went to the trouble of recording it and then burning it to DVDs for me and even mailing it to me, all at no charge.  And I am happy to have it to play in the background at low volume.  But, I'm afraid I'll have to keep searching for a listenable version of it.
