RE:Anyone decorating this weekend?

I'm so sorry for your recent loss too. I lost my longitme companion in July and this Christmas will be difficult. But I did manage to put my tree up on November 1st. I had to move to a much smaller place since the loss of my companion, and the property management company doesn't allow any outdoor decorations so I am bummed because I can't set up my Blowmolds or other outdoor lights this year.
I'm also limited as to what I can do indoors being I went from 6 large rooms down to 2 very small rooms, but I do have a few lights in my windows and would like to run some along the perimiter of my living room where the wall meets the ceiling, but it's hard to get thumbtacks to stay in and 9 out of 10 times they bend before I can get them into the wall. I tried tape, but the lights are too heavy and I can't use nails or screws because they would leave a large a hole and that would be considered damage to the apartment.
I really hate HUD Subsidized Housing. They have so many rules and regulations, but I have to make do with what I am able. I really do love to decorate for Christmas and it saddens me that I can't do as much in my new apartment. But any decorating is better than none at all.
So far, to my knowledge, with the exception of stores, you are the only person I know who puts their Christmas tree up before Halloween. I have tried to do it but neighbors complained so I wait until November 1st. (I know that being it is inside my own apartment, that I have a right to do what I want, but people didn't like seeing my tree in the window before Halloween) If I had the space, I would love to leave my Christmas tree up all year, but I would have to do a lot of dusting and I have a lot of vintage ornaments and wouldn't want to take the chance of breaking any of them. I do usually leave my decorations up until between January 7th. and 12th. If I had outdoor lights up, they would stay until it was warmer because the wires would be too stiff from the cold or even buried in snow but they wouldn't be lit after the 12th. of January.
