This edition of "Chip's Tips" will serve to announce the upcoming 2013 Christmas CD releases from Real Gone Music.

But before I do, let me just say that regrettably this year Gordon was not able to include any of my Top 5 recommendations to him. The reason for this is because four of the five titles are Universal-owned, and unfortunately as Gordon puts it, "Universal is hopeless to deal with right now." These four Universal-owned titles are Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians: 'Twas The Night Before Christmas; Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians: Christmas Time; Stanley Black: Christmas Holiday For Romance; and Frank Chacksfield: Music For A Merry Christmas.

The other Top 5 title on my list to him is Frank DeVol's The Old Sweet Songs Of Christmas. Fortunately, it is Sony-owned; however, for this year 2013 it's just a matter of bad timing as Gordon already has two projects going with Sony right now and just can't take on another one at this time. However, the good news is that there is an excellent chance for its release next year for Christmas 2014! As everyone who is familiar with this message board knows, I have been trying to get this album back in print for many years now; so I will be thrilled if it finally comes to fruition next year.

I'll keep everyone posted.

In the meantime, here now are the Real Gone Music Christmas CD releases for 2013:

The New Christy Minstrels: The Complete Christmas Recordings
(Re-release of the 2001 Collectors' Choice Music CD that contains the group's 1963 and 1966 Christmas albums)

Andy Williams: The Complete Christmas Recordings
(2-CD set that contains 42 tracks)

Patti Page: Christmas With Patti Page
(Reissue of her 1955 Mercury Records Christmas album)

Bobby Darin: The 25th Day of December

(Reissue of his 1960 Atco Records Christmas album)

Funky Christmas
(Cotillion Records various artists compilation CD that includes early Luther Vandross)

Have a nice spring everybody and don't forget to keep the spirit of Christmas all year through!
