Hey there it's Sarah Coldheart here.

These are the backup forums for Nanowrimo, if the website is down for some reason or the server lags utterly slow, feel free to post here while they're fixing things at the main site!

Ooooh! I like your pussy cat! I couldn't work out the avatar thingummie.

I checked out Geek Terminal today. Those floor plug things look pretty cool. There was a bit of a noisy meeting event going on at the back. Coffee is illy!! One of my favourite coffee brands plus I like the little art effects they do in the cup. Fingers crossed we get a positive response.

I've said my farewells to the 2007 posts. Got all teary-eyed as I did so. I know there are some brilliantly funny posts in there from people and part of me says I should go in and rescue them for inclusion in the Singapore Writers Archive at the National Library for when we're all rich and famous writers and people want to know how we got started. And then I went, 'Nah, too much work.' So that was that.

Oooh, well that's interesting. Looks like those who don't sign in are 'guests'. Well if there are those who won't sign in, remember to put who it's from or something.

Meanwhile, yes, good bye Nano forums! And yay for you trying out the coffee, Rozen! Well, I looked through and yeah... Hahahaha I have no idea what to save and just went meh about it.

And rabbit sweeeeeeeeeets, darn it. I was like "Le disappointment!!" when they included rabbit sweets in the list of being investigated, hopefully it is good and all since it's such an old product somehow.

And ooh, ooh. Bulk orders for the Nano stuff. I definitely wanna get the cup. We should make a mass order and transfer money to someone (probably one of us MLs) to buy them goodies, though items will probably just be disbursed during write-ins, if not then whoever else should just buy on their own and get it delivered to their houses.

I want a mug, a T-shirt, a YWP T-shirt, a mug, a T-shirt, the creatures poster, a T-shirt, the Typewriter poster (don't we have one of those somewhere? Do I have it?!?), another T-shirt and a mug.

There.

That's a lot of mugs and t-shirts! Hahaha... I should go email the store, IF I can find their contact to ask how much is shipping unless you remembered from last time?

(Raven here! I can't seem to find the sign up button on this forum, but I'm working on it.)

I have the typewriter poster (: Won it last year at TGIO I think. And yes, we should spree for the goodies. I want lots of stuff too, I'm saving up :D

If they had a noisy meeting, then we should be good, I think. We're quiet, except when we're not.

Oh blooper! Make raven the 2nd admin. It'll be good practice .

I took a look around the YWP just now. The sites are still up. Guess it's early morning in San Francisco. There were 5 or 6 Singapore YWPs already signed up last year and earlier on this year. Who'd've have thought it! Found it all by themselves, bless 'em. On the main site there was a late minute surge and we're now 256. Not even October yet! Could be a bumper year.

Geek Terminal was noisy-ish depending on who had the mike. Looked like a flashy sort of do with a buffet and balloons, PowerPoint presentation and so on. Not sure if we'd be so welcome if we're not actually catering with them. I looked into Swensen's in Funan because there was a kids' birthday party, but really guys, I don't think we could pass you off as ten year olds and get the cheap food menu.

Maybe we can all pretend to be waiting for the birthday kid but he never shows up? Aheh.

Wouldn't the YWPers from years past be a bit lonely? Since as far as we know, there were maybe five or six Singapore YWPers then.

Was waiting till raven got signed in then I could do it! Yay, you figured out the sign in thingy and stuff.

And... Well... there's also the steps of the supreme court, we can sit there on the steps picturisquely and type away... Though there's no electricity and if it rains then... We'd be soggy messes... BUT VERY PICTURISQUE, as if we were Jane Austen or something, writing using a quill and ink on paper, lamenting on our prose, posing on the hard stone!

Ack, guest was me, I thought I signed in for that. ANYWHO, Brad, the shipping captain came back to me and he can calculate shipping for us if we have items. I'll open the list in the nano forums on Oct 1 too but I'll give a deadline of until Oct 10 or something.

Add to the list!

I'll email you separately about my order. Don't want to put my T-shirt size up for public view. Although the last one I got could have been a dress, it was so long.

The steps of the City Hall might be where we're at. I've found a complete, absolute, last resort, desperation and needs-must location if we're really, really, really stuck. The Subway in the Ascendas Building in Science Park I (Buona Vista MRT & Bus 96) is open on Saturdays and Sundays and is empty, empty, empty. Except for the hubby and me buying lunch and a few other guys sitting around with their laptops. I guess we can just show up. Seats are hard plastic, but there are padded benches in the main foyer that we could stretch out on. Free WiFi too. But location is not easy to get to, which is the big downside. Upside is that it's right next to Kent Ridge Park so people can go walkies for inspiration. It's really beautiful there. Not in the building, but it does look out to a swimming pool (empty) and greenery.

Anyone else got an out-of-the-way place? We'll do the travelling NaNoWriMo this year. We could even hire a bus if we all pitched in!

Sarah here again. If the silly thing didn't sign me in.

I wonder if we'd get travel sickness in the bus if so! Meanwhile, I'm horridly tempted for a romance this year with fantasy involved and everything else of funness. Argh.

I'm currently reading "A Lady's Guide to Rakes" where rake is not your average garden variety tool and more of a dashing man! The heroine starts out with spying a guy on a hot air balloon and got too close to the trees and crashed into them, sending herself to fall onto said guy.

Weirdly, reminds me of my own nano story scene in our book.

Is the item list confirmed? Because I might add/remove some items depending on how finances are... Yeah.

Actually the Burger King at Raffles City is quite big, and generally quite empty except for the odd random rush. They tend to leave you alone if you've got something of theirs in view. No free Wifi though, and no power. They got large diet drinks though.

@sarahcoldheart: Only in chick lit can someone be in a ballooning accident and not die a horrible fiery/squashy death and fall in love.

Yes, it is very reminiscent of your nano novel excerpt for the book. I was just going to say that when you did yourself, so I said it anyway. And, yes, agree with raven on the fiery outcome of most ballooning accidents.

We could, you know, hold a birthday party for a kid called Nano Wrimo, who's ten years old, at Burger King. Not McDonald's because Ronald might show up unexpectedly and he gives me the willies (good Irish slang word and nothing to do with rude bits of the anatomy).

I kinda forget balloon crashings can give fiery and squashy death but ALAS, it is the power of LURVE that prevents it happening if so in romance trash (which can be much more silly that chic lit anywho)

RIGHT! Well, the list ain't confirmed until at least October 8 or so when the Nano webby is up in proper form and people are talking and stuff.

Anywho, a quote from Bradford:

The base rate for shipping to Singapore is 23 USD.

So thus, we totally need to know what items are it and then get the real shipping costs cause I REALLY want that cup this year.

I'm assuming the USD23 base charge is per package, right? Because if there are posters it'll probably have to be split up into at least two packages (like a box for t-shirts and mugs, and a poster tube for prints/posters).

Put me down for two t-shirts (go with 2XL as a rough guess) and two mugs.

Tra la la, for now I've got orders from you two. Will open up the call to see who else when the main webby is up.

Meanwhile, I emailed E2Max to see how big their chambers are... That's in cineleisure, the gaming centre but they've got rooms for whatever stuff now, heh.

*peeks inside.*

Um. Hey. This is Langsuyar.

Rozen contacted me last year for NaNoWriMo, but I was busy then, with projects, as it was the middle of my 2nd year in Polytechnic. However, for the whole of November I -should- be free for NaNoWriMo, hopefully. I was trying to make a proper story back then, but I gave up due to time constraints.

Hopefully this year would be a change!

I have a personal blog that I made for my New Media module, but I decided to keep it and update it now and then. It's here! I'm primarily a fantasy writer, but I would be happy to meet other writers and such! Heaven knows I can't get proper constructive criticism.

Oh, are those Alphasmart Pros still in use this year? I might want one!

So... hi.

There's new writing gear? Wait, it's not a laptop, is it?

Poor student writer wants a poor student laptop for poor student writing. :(

Seriously, though, I can't wait to meet people and write together. And I know several places we can go to, but they're mostly in ulu Woodlands (where I live) and have no WiFi (which I don't usually need, because I don't have laptop. Mostly just run around here and think of ideas and run home to write). Also, what works for me might not work for a large group so... yeah. But if anyone's interested, there's the Woodlands Community Club (Might be able to rent a room, haven't checked yet though, otherwise there's always the Canadian Pizza place on the first floor there that's always empty) and there's also the small park in front of the Civic Centre. The Woodlands National Library nearby can also work, but the rooms might be taken on the weekends. I'm familiar with many places near my area around the Woodlands Interchange, so if anyone wants to take the travel time to Woodlands, I guess one of those could work!

Hi Langsuyar, glad you'll be able to join us this year.

The AlphaSmart Pros are still on the go. There's been no upgrade to laptops, I think sarahcoldheart has an upgrade of her own. Maybe one of these years we'll get 2nd hand laptops. We should try for a donation drive some year!

Thanks for the suggestions for meeting places. Canadian Pizza sounds good. This year might be the year to have some write-ins going on outside the city area, maybe two or three going on at the same time in different places if it suits people and someone is willing to do a meet-and-greet. There are a couple of Sundays with no venue yet. We're crossing our fingers that a meeting with Geek Terminal is positive for at least the Kick-off Party. We'll keep everyone informed of our progress. They don't open on Sundays, though, so even if they say yes to all the other dates we're left with a couple of homeless days still.

Hahah yeah, a personal upgrade! Me thinks some of you might go ooh at it since plenty of others went "Oooh" when they saw it.

Anywho, I work at RP! (Not role playing) Thought the west would be too far or something but ooh cool, if people don't mind it then good. I've checked prices for renting rooms at the community clubs and..............................

Yeah, it costs a pretty penny to rent them out.

NONETHELESS, the park and pizza place is mucho nice with more food, heh heh.
