quote]Never been to a men's night
You don't know what you missed (or perhaps they still have them?)

It usually started with a round of shooting people. Meaning, that the guy with the highest office got to go round the room and shoot down anyone who was fair game. Once this arse had gotten his pleasure at this, then the message may start. Horrible. Messaging some guy in order to get to know him. What is that about? And having a guy message you, made me want to vomit.
There would also be a film and snacks, normally very unhealthy snacks.
It would finish anytime between 2 and 4 a.m - then we got to drive home and crash our cars. Great days.

I was at plenty of 'mens nights' and I miss them. This modern society has unfortunately abandoned the idea of men getting together without the ladies. I also enjoyed the massaging (throusers staying on !). I personally was never there when anything 'impure' went on. I only heard of many strange stories once things boiled over in CAI in the 2006 split... and then some things started to click. The idea of making this an organised event where everybody (if not by group pressure) IS to join in... is quiet weird and unacceptable in hindsight.

And no - I'm not gay :)

so, may I ask - were you one of these bastards who went around the room shooting people?

And sorry, but getting a massage (correct spelling this time) from a guy, then going home to your wife, is that not sick? When I told my wife she cried. She thought it was totally homo.

Re:Mens nights

So, you would only go to a female massage therapist then? What would your wife think about that? Just throwing that out there.

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with one guy giving another guy a brief massage if he's, say tense around the shoulder area or the neck to relieve a tension headache. In my eyes, there's nothing weird about that. And if you can only go to your wife with that, what would single guys do? Kinda hard to massage your neck and shoulders yourself. That said, I'd expect them to not start stripping off and having everybody in the room have a go at it at the same time. That's kinda gross. Sounds more like an orgy.

Other than that, I think it's healthy for the guys to go out every now and again without the ladies. Heck, I prefer to go out with the girls for the movies or a restaurant once in a while without the hubs or the kids. That's normal, you know.

What's not normal is the 'shooting session', the nearly-orgy and the general worship of a person who doesn't deserve to be worshiped. Then again, that's CAI we're talking about. Lots of things aren't normal within CAI.

hated the massage part of the mens nights.
stripping to the  waste and massage-oil etc.

AND IT DID  LOOK LIKE AN ORGY - especially in that  TV room in the garage at  EHQ.
30-40 men  semi-naked, bodies everywhere, all closely packed together..... no wonder Scott  sinned, with so much  temptation about.
 - it'd be  like a typical friday night in the local gay-bar (all the naked  flesh and testerone)!

Anyway, I don't think it was encouraged to  build friendships, rather it was to break down  natural barriers, to articificially weaken  peoples'  defenses.
I think it was a  purely  cynical  controlling  teaching.

PILGRIM
--  men get together a lot still in society -  go to any club (football, snooker etc, or the pub).... most men  do things that are 'men-only' things.
--  modern  society is  much kinder to both men and women than the CAI.
--  may be you need to get out more with some mates  ;-)

Re:Mens nights

worst was the masterbation-confession-sessions where  Andrew etc would  grill everyone on the evils of  a  5-knuckle-shuffle.....
sick bastards,  that was truly scary, it was  pure  torture.
 - the  young lads had the worst time of it.... gee they were always in trouble for 'sinning'

.... it was almost comical, if it weren't so serious.

question - did the women also have similar  session on the  dangers of self-pleasure, or was it only the men ?

I think the  whole  mens night thing totally sucked.

false matey-blokey lets pretend  we're all equal but we're not, as  the elders were always  on hand  to spout some  more bull shit and  monitor that every one is 'in the spirit' and 'on fire' etc....

Let me apply your approach to the subjective element of reading a text ... I see you have humorously - by using nonsense a la Lewis Caroll - acknowledged that you agree with Ian in his approach to the subjective element of comprehending a text. Even more, you think this appreciation I have of what you think is an excellent insight into what you actually think.

Ian you can be so obtuse at times. It is right that the reading of scripture is subjective, no matter how long you and your ilk have laboured away to make it part of academia. Baloney, academia gave us the Holy Scripture and some notable academics such as William Tyndale were burnt at the stake by the command of the King of England for it. Everyone that reads it will read what they want into it.  I hope that you are not accusing Ian of eisegesis.. now now you are a glutton for punishment !! I dare you to try, if you can ?? You can't control everyone :) Ian has never even once in the last decade and a half since I have know him has tried or even attempted to control anyone .. Correct anyone ?? yes !! every time !! but control ?? I pronounce 'not guilty'  And Tony is as wrong as every other control freak who thinks he is god's right hand man. Tony needs to learn how to control himself first.

There now, that wasn't so hard to understand was it? No it wasn't !!

CAI sucks! Men´s night was a totally unchristian behavior. These guys would have tortured and crucified Jesus again if he got back.

Personally I'd like to thank everyone for the mental pictures I got from this thread.

I don't thing CAI mens nights were anything to do with God really, we all know that. As for massages- if your wife isnt good enough, just go to a professional, male or female, if you try any funny business Im sure your ass will get ejected from their shop. Fullstop.

When I confronted Michy presonally about the fact that grooming for sexual abuse had been inculcated into the practices and doctrines of the church, he replied that it had "all been stopped".

What a load of horse shit. When they admit mens nights were tantamount to orgies and ban em for like ten years I'll believe it.

As for masturbating- pretty normal when the only person in the church getting sex other than for reproductive purposes was Scott.
question - did the women also have similar  session on the  dangers of self-pleasure, or was it only the men ?
Are you kidding me?

Heck, no. The subject of sex was never mentioned at women's nights. Even the movies had to be picked very carefully so nothing remotely too racy would ever appear. If you wanted to talk about anything like that in CAI you had to approach a friend whom you kinda hoped you could trust and wouldn't just go to the next officer about it and talk in hushed tones somewhere private (without too much detail), away from anybody else. Of course, you wouldn't pick a women's night for that moment.

During women's nights, we got to make cuppas, watch a movie, be pleasant and sweet to Ree, talk about cooking recipes and just how worried we were about our children's future and how lucky we were they were being raised in such a sensible 'church' and present some wishy-washy deeply spiritual revelation we'd had about cleaning our kitchen floors better.

The only time it was ever allowed to publicly breach that subject was during the 'sex education' sessions during some AGMs when all the married and soon to be married women (and I think also singles over 20 or so) got herded into a hall and all the guys had to mind the kids and stay away from the hall, except for the watchmen at the door (who I'm sure grew HUGE ears during that time) and the panel of officers sitting in the front. Now, of course, the officers were all guys and then it was expected you'd ask your intimate questions in front of 150 women, many of which were strangers, to some guys who would then answer them. I never said a word at those meetings. I mean, wth???

Car accidents after mens nights, because you are so tired or so upset. CAI is a danger to the society!

Re:Mens nights

I remember  getting a  lift back from a men's night in Scotland and the  driver  fell asleep at the wheel when driving down the motorway (70mph).  I yelled !

I believe the teaching at the time was to  open your  window  & leave it  open till you got home -  saw one  man stick his  head out the window when driving.
... made the  car  freezing in winter times.
crazy.

I hope CAI will fade away, disappear, never come back and be forgotten. Because CAI is not a Christian organization, but there has been some Christian people in CAE/CAI. They have to leave CAI now, before it´s to late to abandon the sinken ship.

Re:Mens nights
(Date Posted:16/05/2011 11:43 PM)

Yah, but it wasn't only men's nights that were late and where drivers were falling asleep behind the wheel.

During the main translation work in Scotland, I hardly ever got home before 3am two nights a week (not including Wednesdays ... that went extra) and then late Friday and Saturday nights because of work at PH & EHQ and then Sunday was notoriously late because we had to clean up and what not, all while holding down a job and having to get up early. I consider it a downright miracle that I'm still alive because I can remember very well that I fell asleep behind the wheel often.

It was like that for a number of other members of the CAI too. But, hey, that's one of the key elements of brain washing. If you keep people sleep deprived, they won't be able to switch on their brains and use them for some independent thought.

Crazy stuff really. Sad thing is, if someone had been killed they would never have considered it their fault. OH no, their walk was bad, and God removed them.

Sickening, really sickening.

And the show goes on.
