Looks like a "huge can of worms" has been opened. Lets see if we can close it.Let's talk membership: The decision to have a membership at Sunbeam RC Raceway was for several reasons. Some of the reasons for our decision are:The track has a built in maintenance crew. The track will be in race condition every day. The only thing racers will have to do is show up to practice or race and only worry about one thing - "RACING". The hobby store will be open during all track hours for all your racing needs. The hobby store will have it's own computer system and track personnel . Turn marshalling will be the only requirement of the racers on race days. Member's of the Sunbeam RC Raceway do have other priviledges such as free practice time, discount on store purchases and reduced racing fees. Regarding non-member practice time, we will allow non-member's to practice at a cost of $5.00 per day.If there are any problems or if you are still unclear on our intentions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the store. (904)288-6929. We are just trying to provide you with a great place to come and enjoy yourself and race. Thanks...Harry

I think people forgot that this is a HOBBY not a business. When you start trying to make a living out of a HOBBY it just doesn't work. "I'm talking about racing toy cars not the store were you should be making your living" I will come and race on your track from time to time, but not every week so I don't see any reason to pay $120.00 to be a member. Thats alot of money for a membership. I hope you well, and thanks for giveing us a place to race in town.

I think the track has potential. As long as the layout is cool this place could be alot of fun.

Travis is right,  the layout is everything. With such a small track if the layout sucks so will the track.

As for memberships, 10% off is nothing these days you can go anywhere and get that, hell hobby world gives 20 on most cases.  As for the track being "race ready" everyday I hate to be the bear of bad news Harry but that will last a month, track maintenance is a bitch and I cant seeing paying someone to work on it full time every day. The clay you have is nice and will work great but it is HIGH maintenance. breaks up quick and with the way jvill racers are they like a wet track which is even more maintenance. So good luck on that idea I hope it does work out I cant wait to go pay my 5 bucks to practice on a freshly groomed track on a tuesday afternoon.

Keep in mind Harry and I do speak from experance on this one, if you promise something I would make sure it happens because the racers around here will eat you alive......

I dropped by Harry's during lunch  today. The membership thing is for people that will be running on the track a lot and want to use it as a way to save money. Non members can practice during the week for a small fee. No problem.

Update.

The track seems to be coming together nicely. It won't be ready for test and tune this weekend, but should be by next weekend. Harry will have to confirm that.

I went out to Harry's yesterday and the track looks nice, Harry has put alot of thought and work into his place. Nice job Harry. 1/8 scales should have plenty of room to race it has wide lanes but it is alittle small for them. For all the gas trucks, this place should be alot of fun. I will take both truck and buggy out there to give it a try as soon as he opens up.

It will take more than a new body to fix what's wrong with you...lol

I will probably not race this weekend, if Harry does run a race this weekend I would probably come out with the truck but not the buggy.

I'm not sure if it will be ready for this weekend or not. It looks like he still needs to put in the electric and finish the drivers stand? My guese is another week or so. The hobby shop number is: 228-6929

I won't be racing at Harry's track or any other track that is Roar affiliated. So if you want to go racing at other tracks that are not roar tracks, let me know.

Bubba, I have a phone you know.

Why won't you race at ROAR tracks?
it pretty much means nothing anyways since any of the ones that I have been to that were Roar affiliated never followed the ROAR rules anyways...ie lane width, fence around track etc........
does this have anything to do with the region 4 race last year?
