Hello Fellow Squeezers,By popular request, and continuing the tradition of previous M@Ws, I have again booked a table at the Ask Italian Restaurant in Witney Market Square (actually, just an extra-wide part of the High Street) for 5:30 pm on Saturday 10th November 2007. This is for the Sheffield Melodeon Gang and their guests/friends/hangers-on/people-with-vague-Sheffield-or-Yorkshire connections, etc. who are attending Melodeons At Witney 2007. As last year, I've booked 18 places - this is the largest group that the restaurant can comfortably accommodate on a single table. I will provide menu details nearer the time; vegetarian options are available. As I'm sure you are aware, this is a very select group (no riff-raff please), so please check your eligibility before making your request to join us - we don't want any embarrassing situations, do we?You nee
Well let's get the obvious one out of the way.
Mr and Mrs Castagnari and.... (well you can work out the rest).

Mr. and Mrs. Fl?el and their daughter, Goldie Horn.
Mr. and Mrs. Purcel and their very helpful son, Volunt Harry?
No it will never work, don't want to go. Hate Sheffield, too many mousetraps and have you tried to swallow spaghetti when you're a mouse?

Late Arrivals game for MAW Italian meal
Please may I request that people do not post any Late Arrivals directly, publicly, on this board. It potentially spoils the fun for those actually involved in the competition.
If you want to come to the MAW Italian meal, please use the Private Message system to contact me and send me your Late Arrival submissions.
After MAW is over, I will post ALL the contributions, including the winners, and at that stage those people who are not attending MAW would be welcome to add their own Late Arrivals.
Many thanks,
Steve

SORRY.

Melodeons at Witney 2007 - Sheffield Melodeonists and Friends Italian Meal
Just a repost, as my original message is in danger of getting buried. This post is just for information. Please don't reply to it. Use the PM system instead. Thanks.
There are still a few places left as at 10th September 2007.
Hello Fellow Squeezers,
By popular request, and continuing the tradition of previous M@Ws, I have again booked a table at the Ask Italian Restaurant in Witney Market Square (actually, just an extra-wide part of the High Street) for 5:30 pm on Saturday 10th November 2007. You need to:
Either
- Live in Sheffield, now or at some time in the past
Or
- Demonstrate some sort of Sheffield connection, even if it is only that your grandfather's faggin' 'ook that he used on the allotment was made in Sheffield.
To book your place, send me your request in a Private Message that contains the following:
- Your name
- The reason(s) you think you fulfill the eligibility criteria
- At least one suggestion for Late Arrivals at the Free-Reed Player's Ball (see below for more information). A prize will be awarded at the meal for the best/funniest/wittyest Late Arrival announcement. You may submit as many suggestions as you wish.
- A valid e-mail address, so that I can confirm your booking and also notify you of any last-minute changes. Your e-mail address will be kept completely confidential and not made available to anyone else.
Places wil be alotted on a 'first-come, first-served' basis, (providing all the criteria are met). So - to avoid disappointment, don't delay, get writing those 'Late Arrivals' today!
For the disadvantaged among you who have never listened to Radio 4 at 6:30 pm on a Monday evening - in particular, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, 'Late Arrivals at...' is a game rivaling 'Mornington Crescent' in popularity and fiendish difficulty. It is pointless, although points will be awarded on this occasion (and we all know what points mean....?). To get you started, here are a few examples taken from Late Arrivals at the Ornithologist's Ball:
My Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen, will you please welcome.....
- From Australia, Mr & Mrs Platypus, & their duck, William
- All the way from Israel, Mr & Mrs Neagle, & their daughter, Golda
- Mr & Mrs Cann, & their footballing son, Pel? Separate bills please.
- From Ireland, Mr & Mrs O'Warbler, & their son, Will
- From Wales, the family Mott, with their mining son, black Gwilly
You get the idea, I'm sure. There are more Late Arrivals here:

Melodeons at Witney 2007 - Sheffield Melodeonists and Friends Italian Meal. UPDATE - 13th October 2007
I still have 4 places left, so if anyone wants to join us please get in touch with me as soon as possible. Do not post messages here, but contact me directly by e-mail:
Contact Steve
As I write this, we have the flashlight ads back so just to be on the safe side, it's probably best not to use the PM system for the moment. Use my e-mail.
I will also close the "Late Arrivals" competition on Saturday 21st October in order to allow the judges time to select the winners. Lots of great entries so far, but if new applicants want to join in or you want to add to your existing entries, get your thinking-caps on and get writing!
See you all at Witney!
