I do a lot of advertising on the Web and the African scammers are usually pretty obvious. I sometimes play along with them when I am bored and have them send me their fake checks via special delivery to waste their time and effort and money. In fact, I have a whole collection of fake checks and fake Money Orders I've received from the Scammers. I feel I am doing a Public Service. best to all, Vince McEnery
i've just became a relay operator recently for GoAmerica, so yes, I'm a Filipino. Whoever mentioned here that Filipinos "dont understand english and can barely type fast enough," maybe you aren't familiar with your own history. America colonized the Philippines before World War II and a little while longer after that. The result is familiarity AND proficiency of the english language. English is not only a "second language", it is as common as our native tongue. Also, the Philippines is never behind tech stuff so typing isn't an issue. I type 100 words per minute and a quarterly typing evaluation is being done to maintain speed and deliver fast service. So you don't have to worry about the quality of relay being compromised just for GoAm to save bucks. The Stellar/Nordia call center, based on my experience, has the longest and toughest training, meaning that quality and competence is top on the list. Don't be so bitter just because you will lose your job to us.

MCI (as it used to be called) did block all their International Ip calls, finally. That's why you're getting them now, suckers. Now mci only gets scammer calls within the US. I'm so glad I don't work there anymore. Geez!

I am an i711 employee myself and I am here in the Philippines, so yes, I'm a Filipino. My typing speed is that of an average Filipino IP Relay Operator, 80 WPM. With 100 percent accuracy. Others can type a hundred to 200 words per minute. Here in the Philippines, the requirement is at least 60 WPM. That's fast typing already, considering an average person can only type 20-30 WPM. I have a neutral accent, like what most broadcasting companies require of newscasters, for example, so that they could be understood clearly by EVERYONE. Sure, there are those who are having trouble grasping the English language, but mind you, not all Filipinos are as incompetent as you think. Also, not every Filipino who applies for the job goes home with a contract. SO you can relax, those who are in the deaf community are in good hands. People like me are working for i711, not just any street urchin you find under your nose.
