Fraudsters are invariably illegal, they are violating domestic and international laws so convincing the fcc to give us some tools isn't totally impossible.but prankers ... well you start to get into some real first amendment stuff. i mean it's annoying, it's crude, it's revolting, and very often enough to make you wanna scream. but isn't goofing off on ip relay just as protected as say the crank yankers or the jerky boys? i didn't really do that much studying into free speech laws, but that's the first thing i think of whenever someone mentions something ' in the works ' for prankers. -------------------------------------------------------------- "We"ve already made too many comprimises, too many retreats! Pranking seriously depletes the TRS fund. And then again, it comes down to Freedom of Speech vs. Laws Against Harrassment. Basically, their rights end where mine begin. I have the freedom to swing my fists around in the air, but that freedom stops right where the other person's nose begins. Anyway, it doesn't matter, because the chances are fairly slim. And even if something does come to pass, it will be done away with or screwed around with so much that it becomes ineffective (just look at how the scam disconnect has been fairly ineffective for an example.) And most of you guys haven't been operators long enough to know that we used to be able to disconnect anybody with no question at all if we could tell they were typing in the same room. Where did that go?? Anytime you wonder about something, just ask yourself this question: Would stopping said activity cause the amount of minutes billed to go down and therefore decrease revenue?
