Hmmm Im not sure where to start... Someone sent me an email with a link to this thread.
Yes, I am the evil, nasty, "stalker", "pervert" who put up that web page. But, I feel there are a few points that need to be made...
If you had actually read the content of the page, I clearly stated that the prank calls were not cool because the Relay Service provides a very usefull tool to those that are in need of it.
The page is a joke. If you take whats written there seriously, you need to step away from the computer and go outside and get some fresh air!
I have had close to 9000 hits on that page, over 30 people claiming to be the Operator in question and several people offer me personal information on the operator (and from what I can gather, they personally know the operator). Other than the link to this forum, I have deleted those emails.
Of those 30+ people claiming to be the Operator,
not one of them as actually asked me to take the page down nor could they/would they actually verify that they were the Operator in question.
I am a normal, well adjusted, college educated, professionally employeed person. I am not a stalker, freak or whatever your anger or lack of humor would make you call me.
I am not "in love" or enamored or have a crush on the Operator. I simly took a joke and ran with it and created a Fan Site.
I do, in fact, feel bad for the Operators that have to put up with prank calls. However, skimming through other threads here, I see some Operators do get a laugh out of some of them. Does that make it right? Probably not.
I did not make those calls nor was I in anyway envolved with them. I found them on some web site that had probably hundreds of prank calls.
Now, some questions for the community;
Some have stated putting recordings of the calls on a web site illegal. As far as I know, calls may be recorded as long as certain conditions are met. How can putting a recording that someone else made and freely distributed on a web site be illegal?
A few emails I have received said I was 'a disturbed individual' and other such things. One person named Patrick even hoped I would f-ing die. Again, not one person has asked to take the page down (either in nice terms or rude terms). Should I respond to those individuals in the same manor they have treated me?
I see that this is a very close knit community and I think it's great that you all have a place to come to and vent and deal with the things that would otherwise drive you crazy at work. So, I fully expect to be flammed and called every name in the book. But, I just wanted to make a few points and somewhat try and explain the truth behind what certain people are misconstruing. Honestly, I never thought that a 'fan site' would cause so much drama and hysteria. I guess the old saying is true; No good dead (in my mind) goes unpunished.
