I used to (please note: USED TO) use Sprint Relay to prank call my friends, one time, I was on the phone with an operator and a friend of mine, and I typed in "(opr can you sing "Mary had a Little Lamb")" and to my surprise he did.

My first question: Are operators SUPPOSED to sing songs? Or was it just this one operator?

A little while later, the operator actually started to respond without my typing anything, he seemed like a really nice guy and was interesting to talk to..

My second question: Can you talk to the people on the line or are you not allowed to do that? Could the guy have gotten fired for this call?

We didn't make him say anything nasty or anything like that, it was just sort of a roleplaying thing (yes, dumb, I know, I was tired and it was fun at the time..)

I no longer use Relay services to call people since I know what they're ACTUALLY for and I've gotten a really good free voice to voice thing for my computer that works with voice changers, it's really cool to call your friends with Darth Vader's voice, y'know?

My final question: Do you know other operators by their IDs?

I did this off the top of my head, so I might've repeated myself, I'm not going to proof-read it.

Seeing that I'm the most active user on this forum, I'll bit.


1. No we do not have to sing songs. Some are willing, and it depends on the context of the call. Pretty much, it comes down to the opr you get. I sure as hell won't sing anything, much less give anyone the satisfaction of view inflection.


2. No oprs cannot talk to callers. He could of been fired. Sometimes I break transparency when I think the situation calls for it. But it goes completely against rules and regulations, and is one of the easiest ways to get fired.


3. What do you mean? Know other oprs that post on this board by the nbrs or oprs at our call centers and friends by their nbrs. If you mean on this board, hell no. If you mean in person, not intentionally, I have a few friends' codes memorized, but I don't really care to know them.

I've already replied to most of this in other posts, but what I really want to know is which voice to voice program you're using.  Calling people with Darth Vader's voice would be hella cool, especially for scambaiting.

Also, one more question, how often in a day do you get prank calls?

Missed the pay question. The pay is anywhere from between $7 to $10 an hour. MCI employees start out at 10.
