Yup, I was "forced to fart". I was told anything in parenthesise we had to act upon. I got a (Farting Noises), so I made one with my mouth

Really? I work for MCI in California and for us we aren't suppose to act on the stuff in parentheses, just read them verbatim. I love having to say "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh (sounds sexy)" and reading just that and then having them say in response "no your suppose to sound sexy when you say that. not say that." If they ask me why I read it that way I just tell them everything is read verbatim.

Hey, can we reply to particular posts, or is this the only way to do it? ALT-U for Sprint is a "(UR Welcome) SKSK" macro. I assumed we all used the same macros. Sorry about that

Yes, you can reply to a particular post by clicking the quote icon. It's the one next to the smiley face with arms and legs.

Nah.. different companies use different macros, even though the macros all allude to the same thing. AT&T just isn't that brillant when it comes to the macro messages. I LOVE how their "official" training is contradictory to what they actually do. Like, for instance, we're not supposed to use ANY punctuational or grammatical notation AT ALL. No ellipses, no commas, no periods, no apostrophes.. nada. Yet, you'll have it in the macros. And most of the time, for me anyways, I have to rephrase the macro message anyways. For the most part, I type fast enough to just type the phrase out in ASL or as close to ASL as possible. I got in trouble for doing that when I was being monitored by my manager. Said it wasn't professional and didn't ensure consistency with calls. I told her it was easier then rephrasing over and over and I type fast enough where I don't miss conversation from the voice at all. Even the New England voice people (who apparently love to imitate the Micro Machines guy when they find out it's a relay call :|). So, all my calls have tone of voice and all the changes in thought and all the background noises and all that crap. It's funny.. I follow AT&T's DMOQ's (Direct Measures of Quality) and get in trouble for it (manager even told me tone of voice and EVERY background sound wasn't necessary to relay.. huh? hearing equivalency should only be half-assed?).

Anyways... sorry for the long reply. I've been drinking tonight (AT&T has us on 6 day work weeks, so it's my only day off to just have me time) so the rambling is the product of vodka.. mmm ... I tend to become prolific when I'm drunk.. maybe I should find another forum, because I've noticed all of my posts have been largely off topic.. ... oh! I can go troll those prank forums.. hah.. let's see if I can get 1000 posts in one hour. ...

hey ksh... wanna know the new procedure at the new castle center?  we close at 2 am so if you re on a call at that time you are to stay on the call for 10 minutes then tell the two parties that you re having technical difficulties and will have to disconnect the call.  don t you love it...  they make up the rules as they go along.  what a circus act AT&T is huh?

And newOpp, I don't know which company you work for, but MCI doesn't make us fart on the phone.  I'm still shaking my head over that one....

Wow.. that's even contradictory to the transfer procedures in the Position Tool. Beautiful.. hang up on the customers instead of just staying with the call or transferring to another center.

Only thing they've been bitching about at our center for the entire year is KTOV. We finally made it for November, so we'll finally get the full bonus. I'm pretty sure the MV team just found a couple operators that know what verbatim means and sat on them for an hour or so. Would make sense.

They changed our procedure on handling inmate calls, to no good; and the new procedure is STUPID. 1 - Inmate calls in on Relay, requests a number to be dialed, dial out the forward number. 1.1 - Inmate calls in through Relay and requests Speech-To-Speech; operator informs "Speech-To-Speech is for the exclusive use of speech impaired persons. You must try your call another way." If inmate makes request again, repeat script. On third request or harrassment, transfer to the "support" desk. CRC is supposed to tell them the same script, but if they make another request to the CRC, they are to be transferred to an operator who is instructed to complete the call. What kind of idiot came up with that? We know they're inmates and are hearing/voice capable with no disability (well, ebonics can be difficult to understand) so why can't we just give the old "I am no longer permitted to dial for you. Please try your call another way [DROP 1]?" Oh well.. if they come in on a TTY line, I just send TTY messages to them. Usually hang up real quick. If not, I still give them 1 minute to respond in TTY and then disconnect. Suits can't say shit because I'm following written procedure and I still don't have to listen to those dumbasses.

Why does it appear to me that the phone companies are just falling all over themselves to serve the exact wrong population?

Money. I think its all about money for them. Especially with ip. Prank/fraud calls make up more than half of the call volume so why would they get rid of them. That's my thought at least.
