OK summer is almost here.  What's up in your life and your Danes.  We're getting
ready to move to the mountains for the summer.  I'm ten steps behind on that, LOL.
Zuni is enjoying her "play Days" and it seems like when we settle in it's time to leave again.
I'll have mountain photos to share soon.  What are you guys up to?  Doesn't have
to be all about your Danes. Keep us updated on you and your families
hugs

We just spent the weekend in New Orleans. Think I put on 10 pounds.      Heading home in about 10 minutes. Frankie is being boarded in Pensacola. Pick him up tomorrow. He loves being able to play with other dogs.

Well, let's see. Gunner is doing great. We have been spending a lot of time in the RV and he is always a people magnet. He loves everybody and loves all of the petting!
My petite girl Sophie is almost 2. She is a finicky eater but last weekend she wouldn't eat for 2 days and then started eating some.  We were in the RV out of town, so as soon as we got back to town last Tuesday we took her to the vet just to make sure it was only finickyness  And not a kidney or liver issue. Kidney and liver function came out good, but hematocrit was way way too high suggesting dehydration. Her lymph nodes in her neck were also a bit swollen,  so they put her in the hospital and put her on IV fluids for 2 days and started her on antibiotics. They did a very detailed panel and everything looks great clinically.

She always has still acted and felt good. She's doing well now but I have to make sure she drinks enough which can be a challenge. Today I have bone broth cooking in the crock pot in order to entice her to drink enough. I am also able to put a few tablespoons of milk in a cup and 1/2 of water and she loves that. Other than that she feels great you would never know that there has been an issue. But my pocket book knows there has been an issue - about $1000 worth of issue, lol.

But, they are our babies so what else can you do?

Well, a week ago, my brother and his wife from Oregon came and stayed with us for several days.  We sold two donkeys.  We bought two donkeys.  A storm on Wednesday dropped three inches of rain on us.  A lightning strike knocked out Direct TV and the electricity to two barns.  I found the tripped circuit breakers and got our power back.  Friday, a repair person reinstated Direct TV.  We have now had nearly six inches of rain.  Today was the first rain free day since Wednesday.  I think we are starting to dry out.

Love the photo of you and the girls Marty!!  Makes my heart happy.

We've been rained on a lot in these past few days too.  Appears we are having our first tropical storm before the storm season even officially starts.  Great!

Bean is happy although I'm leaving for two weeks to care for my oldest brother who is having surgery to have his bladder and prostate removed.  He's been fighting bladder cancer for a few years now and it just keeps coming back.  Now he's made the big decision so the cancer doesn't spread.  I think it was hard but a very wise choice.  Anyway, that means no Mom to take care of Bean.  Just Dad - whom he adores but he's still not Mom.  Lol

 Wow!

The mountains for Jeri.
New Orleans for Frank.
Sophie provided another scare for Mom and Dad.
I survived a visit from my brother and the loss of Direct TV
Roz is playing nurse for her big brother and Bean will be Mom-less for a while.

No wonder we all have troubles posting on a regular basis!

OMG!  Everyone has issues to deal with!

"Phyl"....How is Sophie doing?  Good idea to do the broth thing.  When Modoc was elderly (I know

Sophie is a baby) we were on his last RV trip and his water intake went down and I did the same

thing and put unsalted broth out so he would drink.

"Poor Frank!"  We've texted and the relatives he traveled with to New Orleans weren't as crazy

about Bourbon Street as he would of liked.  Bourbon street is great as their are wonderful jazz

singers there. You can walk to clubs one after another and hear wonderful jazz artists.

"Marty"...That is a ton of rain.  I thought about you when I heard the weather reports.

NO DIRECT TV??????  We have got situated in RV parks only to find our sat. dish didn't pick

up Direct TV and picked up and moved to another RV camp, LOL.  I feel your pain.

"ROZ"  Glad your brother chose the the best means to stop and control the cancer.

Your positive presence will enable him to have a fast recovery.  We all have to make hard choices

now and then.  Saw my kidney doc last week and my kidney anemia took me down to a 10

anemia which they often put you on a shot called Procrit to tell your bone marrow to make

RBC's but recently studies show it increases strokes so I've decided to pass on the shots I've had

before.  Hey I hiked up 1,000 ft last week so I'm adjusting to anemia.  Your bro will adapt to

his new norm also.  Bean will be drowned in love from your hubbie.

Lordy.  Our return to the mountains was 'COLD!"  I brought up herbs from my established herb

garden at home to plant up here.  It's been so cold at night I haven't planted them yet.

I take them out in the day and bring them in at night.  Tomorrow I'm gonna plant them.  They

are tired of sleeping inside, lol.

I love this post!  I love hearing everyone's news.  I love the courageous decisions everyone is making about their health.  You collect all the data.  Then you make the best decision for you and your family.  And I love hearing about plants that sleep inside because it is too cold outside!

I hope we can keep this going!

Not much Dane wise going on.. Piper is retired from the show & obedience ring and is living the good life as a couch potato..She of course does travel to shows with us as the "support" .. Our GSP pup, Sami went to her first ever "big girl" show a couple weeks ago.. Her first day she won her class, got WB and OH Best of breed and went on to get OH group 3...She did great.. This weekend she is testing for Natural Ability in NAVHDA and in a couple of weeks will be back in the show ring again.. Zoe just turned 14 on May 29, Ripley turned 4 on May 30 and Sami turned 1 on May 26..  Family wise Youngest grandson will be turning 2 and grand daughter will be turning 8 this month.. Next Sunday is grandparents day at our granddaughters school.. Weather has been so weird late in getting garden planted, finally got most of it done Thursday.Paul is thinking about retiring... if we can get the numbers to all come together he would like to retire October 1 if not it will be another year..
