This tutorial was written by Trese on December 9th, 2008. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is pure coincidence. Do not, under and circumstances, post this tutorial to any other website or group without permission from me. And certainly do not claim this tutorial as your own. It was written for PSP 9, but should be compatible with any version. It was also written with the assumption that you have a working knowledge of PSP and its tools as well as Animation Shop.
Supplies you will need to accomplish this tutorial include PSP with Animation Shop, this lovely scrapkit by Blue Bell called Little Pieces of Joy, which can be purchased HERE. Plugins Xenofex 2, AlienSkin Eye Candy 5/Impact, Eye Candy 4000. Mask which I have supplied. (place mask into your PSP mask folder) If this mask belongs to you please let me know so I can give you credit, I received it in one of my groups. Font for name is CK Twilight and font for wordart is called Christmas Cheer and font for Shepherd and Manger is called Christmas3. All of which are pay fonts, so I cannot include them with the supplies.
SUPPLIES
Let's begin. Have fun.
Begin by opening all of the elements you wish to use from the scrapkit. You will need to resize them down to tagger size. I usually resize by 25% to start, then as I paste them into my image, I resize them with my Raster Deform Tool for precise sizing and placement. Open your fonts into font viewer and leave them open. As long as you leave them open in font viewer, they will be ready for use in PSP.
At this point I chose a burgundy color from my elements, added a raster layer to my working image and flood filled with this color. Resize this layer by 95% then apply the mask Tidings Mask, merge group. Copy and pasted my elements, resized with raster deform tool and gave each drop shadows. You can use my image for reference for size and placement.
Once you are happy with the placement of your elements, make your background color white in your palette, no outline and use the font Christmas Cheer and find which wordart you wish to use...there are some lovely ones to choose from. Add a slight drop shadow and duplicate this layer twice for a total of three wordart layers. On the first layer, go to Effects/Plugins/Xenofex 2/Constellatin and use these settings: star size 2.64, star size variation 9, Edge star density 100, Overall star density 0, Overdrive 100 (the higher the number here, the whiter the stars will be), twinkle amount 35, check keep original image, Random Seed 1. Go to the next layer and back to Effects/Constellation and use the same settings only hitting the random seed button once. Same for the last wordart layer. You can now close this font.
Now you will use your text tool and use the font Christmas3. Find the manger scene and apply your text using white for your background color, no outline. I made this size 72 and then used my raster deform tool to make it slightly larger. Once you have converted it to a raster layer, go to Effects/Plugins/AlienSkin Eye Candy 5/Perspective Shadow and use these settings: check perspective shadow, Center offset direction 29, Center offset distance 3.09, Overall opacity 100, Overall blur 17.76, Perspective Blur 44.74, Fade out 71, Shadow color is black, check mask selection. You can now close this font.
Now add your name, I used CK Twilight font and a gradient glow using Eye Candy 4000. (Effects, plugins, Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow). We are ready to animate. (if you chose to use a tube with this, be sure to add your copyright info)
Open Animation Shop. Back to PSP, on your wordart layers, be sure the two bottom layers are hidden, Copy merged (Ctrl+Shift/C) and go over to Animation Shop and paste as new animation (Ctrl+v). Back over to PSP, hide the top wordart layer and open the middle wordart layer, copy merged and go over to Animation Shop, this time paste as next frame (Ctrl/Shift + L). Same for the last wordart layer. Resize, save as a .gif and we are done.
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and maybe learned something. Please do not hesitate to contact me through this group if you have any questions about this tutorial or any of my tutorials. I would love to see your results, please come back and post them in this thread.
Thank you, Blessing on the Holidays,
Trese
