I think what first got me watching Sailor Moon was the fact that the main characters were girls, and being a young girl myself, I could identify with them. It was just so different, having the fate of the world resting on the shoulders of regular teenage girls, each with their own personality, and with their shortcomings and personal problems that made them more believable. Nobody could accuse Usagi of being a Mary Sue, and even as a kid, I could appreciate that.
Plus, growing up as I did on the standard bland, harmless North American kiddie fare, it was my introduction into the often much more complex flavour of anime. I didn't feel the storyline was patronizing or dumbed down like a lot of the shows I grew up with. Even though I know now that the dub was watered down quite a bit, it was still more sophisticated than most shows meant for kids, at least that I knew of. Sad but true. :P
All in all, it was just so different from everything else that was on TV at the time, and that's why I still have a soft spot in my heart for good old Usagi and Sailor Moon as a whole <3 Scout Power forever!

This was so much fun! It might have taken me even longer, but I managed to resist the temptation to read the whole entire comic in all its glory right from the beginning :P The Zoisite egg was actually right where I expected it would be, and it wasn't even the last egg I found XD It's in a place where people wouldn't expect it to be, but once they find it out, there'll be lots of people going "AHHH I should have got that right away!!"
Anyways, I love the cute avatars <3 Poor Ami looks a little self-concious :P And fresh-from-the-egg Jadeite is just too adorable!! I will never be able to take him seriously as a villain ever again :3 And omg, the wallpaper of poor Usagi being chased by the evil carrot... it makes me laugh XD LOVE it!
