hi hive

i have broken down in france oops!

the flexible pipe between the master and slave cylinder had a hole. i got a new pipe made up but now the clutch pedal is solid. i have bled and bled but the clutch pedal is soo solid i cannot move it?

any help greatfuly recieved and does anyone know of any dodge people around the boulogne sur mer in france

 That doesn't sound too good, what was the clutch like before the hole bled the system out?

If it was only a hole in the pipe problem it should be ok now it is fixed, now I know this might sound strange but I guess i would at least try turning it over in gear just to see if it frees up the clutch plate, it might be jammed?

So what actually happened, did you just lose fluid untill there was no clutch, was it a hole or a split in the pipe?

 Just a thought, is the new pipe too thin, maybe the bore is just not big enough?

 Hi Greg thank you and i may well telephone you.

I was driving along, went to change gear and the pedal felt soft and the biting point was low to the floor. stopped and saw the master cylinder was low. topped up with brake fluid (?) and off we went with the clutch now feeling better but still with a low biting point. a bit later went to change gear and the pedal was limp as ought with absolutly no resistence. i rapidly brushed up on my trash gear changing and got to a safe park up on an industrial estate.

Had a solid pipe made up with the same bore as the metal pieces on either end of the flexi pipe. bled and bled the pedal had some more resistence but nothing as it should. then when finally bled the pedal was solid as you like. then some helpful people managed to bend the rod from the clutch pedal to master slave.... oh my day just got better..

So do you have or know of a flexi pipe for a mk2 phasher 90, (to be safe) a new clutch (to be safe) and a master cylinder clutch rod (i need). I can pay to get it couriered out here. i have bought from you before. any costs and time i am more than happy to cover.

I am making my way to portugal for the winter and have my family all squeezed in the back of the dodge!

 Hi ya

I can send you a new clutch push rod (pedal to master) just paypal £15 to greg@dodge50.co.uk and need an address to send it too. 

I don't think I have any red flexie pipes available, will have a look and if i have i will let you know, am sure i used my last one on me bus but ya never know.

As for a complete clutch, expensive with no exchange unit, now I might have one that can be used as exchange or even get it remade by past parts and sent on to you direct.

There is a up an coming royal mail strike so be quick or if i post anything out to you via RM it could get held up, i can post out a push rod tomorrow (saturday or monday) 

I missed ya call sorry, was asleep, bloomin meds I am on knock me out a bit.

I will text you my home phone number cos will be much cheaper for you to phone anyway

 Well after talking to Matt on the phone, the clutch hydraulic system is fixed and the clutch is still locked up, so I suggested it was the pin that hold the fulcrum arm in place in the gearbox bell housing that had fallen out and the only way to find out was to remove the gearbox, which he did thisafternoon and sent me a text, yes the pin was sitting at the bottom of the bell housing.

So with a bit of luck he will pop it back in, add a new split pin, replace the gearbox and be away off on his travels very soon, after I send out a new clutch push rod which his friendly over zelous helper managed to bend.

Hello everyone

well the bit arrived from greg, many thanks and we are back on the road south- hurrah. got a leak on the master cyclinder but am topping up regularly and think the source of the leak is a missing circlip. i will look when i next park up for a couple of days.

anyway  i just wanted to share a technique for removing the gearbox without a trolley jack - sometimes necessary!

in the workshop manual it says 'remove the bolts either side of gearbox mount (accessable from inside the cab) and remove gearbox mount' instead of removing these, on the mk2 the gearbox mount is mounted to the chassis by two smaller chassis sections bolted to the main chassis to form a box section - hope that expains it. this smaller chasis section is secured with three bolts on the top of the chasis and three below. remove all six from each side and carry on as per the workshop manual. when it comes to removing the gearbox it can now be slid back using the chasis as rails... much easier than even a trolley jack where you have to pull, drop it down a bit, pull etc, etc.

it also makes it a lot easier when its time to put the gearbox back in.

hope no one ever has to try it but there ya goes
