My son goes to the nursery at Clapham Manor Primary School, I'd highly recommend it, and being attached to the main school gives a natural progression (the nursery children have to wear uniform like the others

and take part in assemblies etc).

They're also about to expand the 'children's centre' where the nursery is to offer wrap-around care (8am to 6pm) on top of the normal 9:15 to 3:30 nursery day.

Being good, it's also very popular, so if you don't live nearby you might find it hard to get a place.

Thank you very much Jonathan, I didn't want to mention any names but I have called this school and there were actually very nice! I am due to go and see the school after Easter. I didn't know about the wrap-around timing, this is brilliant! I am a single mum and work full time so a big worry is lifted from my shoulders.

Now, my next question is... is it difficult to get in? we live near by, just behind the Sainsbury, I must be in the catchment area, but I have no other children in the school. Do you know what are the criterias?

Thanks very much for your help, greatly appreciated

As it's a state school, the entrance criteria are strictly based on 'walking distance to school', with normal caveats about siblings already at the

school, that sort of thing. As to exactly how close you have to be to

get a place, I really don't know. When I took my son to the open day

thing, prior to applying for a place, the headmaster actually went through

everyone there asking where they lived and gave some indication of their chances.

You may find some more info at the website, www.claphammanor.lambeth.sch.uk

Glad to be of help ..

Really? Just double checked, cutting and pasting, and it worked fine for me.

Then it must be my PC... I have done the copy and paste as well, re-did it again now, still no luck. I'll try later from home, might be more successful.

Fustrating though... now I really want to look!

I have finally accessed that website! it's great. Can't wait for the open day. Ideally and if all goes well I'd like him to start nursery at the end of the year.

thanks for your help Jonathan.

PS. I might post again if I have more questions!

It's good to know I wasn't hallucinating the existence of the website, I was starting to get worried. Good luck - I think they'll take new starters in January who've already turned 3, though only on half days to start with.

Really? that's bad news as I am working full time (no alternatives). I hope it won't be for too long  so I could take some time off as holiday for the half days. Getting worried now!

The good new is to hope that he'll be taken in January (being born in November).
