Other than that it's mostly your normal park birds I think, nothing
too exotic, unless you count the occasional flock of ring-necked parakeets.

Is it just me, or has there been a large influx of crows on the Common in recent times? I don't remember there being so many five or ten years ago...

I think there have always been quite a few crows as long as I've been here (just over 5 years...)

$%*'`[commonpeople]%*'`@ I actually spotted 2 green parakeets in the trees near Eagle Pond recently... have not seen them since, but guess they must have been on the way to their home of Richmond! Huge number of wild parakeets in London apparently. Also on Eagle Pond, you have a resident heron and a couple of Cormorants I think.

True there have been hundreds for years. What IS amazing is the invasion of the High Street and residentail areas in recent years.
Until about a year ago you NEVER saw crows eating scraps on the street. Now, around Iceland and the top part of the High Street, they have become quite fearless. Also the other day on the Common I walked within about three feet of a crow and it just ignored me. I think they have suddenly become very habituated to us. Whether it is all of them or just one family has learnt how safe it is to get close to humans, I don't know. It is a real pity the crows aren't ringed as they are fascinating creatures with, apparently, highly developed social groupings. Sadly they all look exactly the same to me 
BTW thanks to everyone for their help identifying the Greylag above.

The green parakeets live in Battersea Par too - so they were probably just out for a fly!!

I was stood outside Iceland and saw three parakeets flying over yesterday - I was shocked. (BTW that is Iceland the store not the country in case you werere confused).
