Have others noticed an increase in aircraft noise in Clapham over the past few years?

It seems quite intrusive now ... if I am at home with the windows open, the planes are quite loud, and around 6am they are coming over every 90 seconds.

I have the impression that they come lower over London than they used to. When I first moved to Clapham about 10 years ago I noticed the planes, but they seemed higher in the sky and the noise more muted.

Prior to 9/11 incoming aircraft flight paths were routed further north across Whitehall. This area has since become a "no fly zone" and any aircraft straying into it is liable to interception. We wouldn't want a suicide attack on the House of Commons would we?

It's always been loud being right under the flight path.

As for it being quieter in the past, I'm afraid that's not true. Don't you remember Concorde going over ?
