	(Date Posted:26/02/2008 9:29 AM) Hi all I will be attending a community consultation by Revitalise Clapham on the new Clapham Library for Mary Secole House on the high street. Please send me any thoughts comments or views to raise at that meeting. Bear in mind that the project has already been approved and will be going ahead so more practical suggestions and thoughts would be helpful e.g. the need for the library to be attractive and accessible to all clapham residents including children and mothers. I'm aware that the location of Clapham Highstreet isn't children friendly so special efforts will need to be made to ensure that the library and its surrounding is welcoming to children and their parents. Clapham is a large area and parents from places like Abbeville and Clapham Park/Kings Avenue and Clapham South may need to drive over to use the facilities. So if parking is an issue, then that defeats the purpose of having the library on the high street as most people with kids will find parking difficult. So perhaps this is a strong point for liberalising Lambeth's parking laws in the area. Other thoughts? BUT if the building and interior looks anything like the mock-ups it's going to be amazing! Bring it on! J.

I can't believe how slowly they are stringing out this process. Meanwhile there is a piece of prime land sitting empty and creating an eyesore on the High Street.

	RE:Stakeholder consultation on new Clapham Library (Date Posted:28/02/2008 10:24 AM) I think things will move faster on the library and other clapham revilise projects now that the contractors have been appointed. There was an article in the Evening Standard's Homes and Property magazine which focused on Clapham's developments with the new library taking centre stage.

It was quite interesting and a lot of useful points raised. They're planning a big, circular multi-level open plan space inside which caused quite a lot of concern regarding mixed use e.g. quite areas, conflicting activities (the centre of the can be used as a performing space). There's a presentation at Mary Seacole House in the High Street on, I think, March 15th. Its all day (at least 10-3 ish) so if you're in the High Street then, go and have a look. Ivor

The Future Clapham programme, through a partnership made up of Lambeth Council, Lambeth Primary Care Trust and Cathedral Group will deliver an innovative library, a fantastic new swimming pool, a purpose built health facility, as well as extra housing by 2011. Come along to see the designs, meet members of the Cathedral team and take part in the first in a series of consultation events that Cathedral Group will be holding to find out your views. The event takes place at Mary Seacole House, 91 Clapham High Street, SW4, between 11am and 4pm. 	RE:Stakeholder consultation on new Clapham Library (Date Posted:15/03/2008 5:52 PM) Went to the event today and got a good overview of what is meant to be happening. I do hope the final result is as good as it looks in the pictures - it has yet to go to planning. My worry is that the design will be so watered down it will become some very boring building! The new leisure centre looks OK but is quite a dull big rectangular box - I think they could do a bit better here. BUT overall a very exciting time of change for our beloved Clapham! J.

	RE:Stakeholder consultation on new Clapham Library (Date Posted:18/03/2008 8:39 PM) I like the look of the new library, can people please stop moaning about parking? We are living in London, if you can't drive to one library I am sure you can find another to drive to! There are plenty of choices. If you choose to live in 'Abbeville village', I am sure that you did your research and knew that you would not be close to a library - if you want to live in an 'urban 'village' then you have made your choice. Let your children learn about and feel their community by walking or taking public transport and you will prepare them for life in the city - unless you are planing to move out before your kids are able to truly appreciate all that London hs to offer?
