THE SHORTEST SPONSORED WALK IN THE WORLD!
TO RAISE MONEY FOR FSID. FIREWALKING AND A FLAMING BBQ!
If you have a burning ambition to walk on fire or just want to do something different in 2008, FSID and The Windmill are offering you the chance to take part in their fire walking challenge on Friday 6th June 2008 at 6.30pm in London at The Windmill on the Common.
Each year in the UK, more than 500 babies die suddenly and unexpectedly. No reason for death is discovered and devastated parents are left with the conclusion of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), which is commonly known as cot death.
By taking part in this inspirational and exhilarating event you will have the unique opportunity to walk across 20 feet of wood embers burning at approximately 1200°F without experiencing any pain or injury, to raise money for FSID (Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths).
FSID is the UK's leading baby charity working to prevent sudden infant deaths and to promote baby health and safety. They carry out research to investigate the causes of SIDS and develop strategies for reducing the number of babies that die; provide information and advice to parents and health professionals on reducing the risk of cot death; support families bereaved by sudden infant death, and work with the professionals when a baby dies to improve investigations and ensure that parents receive the support they need. Their work has led to a 75% fall in the incidence of SIDS in the UK since 1991. Despite this incredible success, cot death remains the UK's biggest killer of babies over one month old and that's why they need your support.
