hi all note that there are plans to transform the old town bus terminus (bus park) into a public square (fountain et al) this will serve the public and the shops  as a relaxation area. Its also mentioned in the evening standard and on the ipsus website but not sure about start and complettion dates. It will be interesting to know what happens to the exisiting bus station.

That sounds good but having a square with two busy roads either side of it?  Any pictures or plans?

Would be great if that was the case ... do you have a link to anything on the web?

I can't find it on the Evening Standard web site (www.thisislondon.co.uk). The Ipsus site has a mention of a "new south facing central piazza", but I understood this to mean  a new shopping square within the Ipsus development, rather than outside it. I presume there is going to be some sort of shopping arcade leading from the street through to this new central square.

It would be great if the bus stand was replaced with a pedestrian square, it is not a thing of beauty at the moment. My only worry would be if this would turn into even more of a heavy-drinking destination on Friday and Saturday nights, with several busy pubs - the Sun, The Frog, The Rose & Crown and others - in close proximity.

It was covered in last week's Evening Standard's Homes and property pullout, which had a feature on developments in Clapham. It looks like its going to be the bus terminus that will become a public square but not sure how that will work

OK I found it, it was covered in the 27 Feb "Homes & Property" section, which includes this statement:

"Several new pavement cafés surround The Polygon, a triangle of three roads. Built in 1792, it is again the focus of the old town, with a turning point for buses, which is set to become a public square."

There are some other bits about Clapham including  an artist's impression of the new library building.

If interested you can download the issue here:
