We are delighted that Anglo Irish Bank has agreed to sponsor the Run, which will cover all our costs resulting in every penny raised going directly to helping those in greatest need. Some of GOAL's humanitarian programmes include:helping 400,000 war ravaged people in the Katanga province of The Congo;helping people in and around the city of An Nasiriyah, Iraq to rebuild their lives;humanitarian aid to over a million people in and around the city of Mazar i Sharif, Afghanistan;distributing supplementary food to 92,000 people in Ethiopia and a school feeding programme for over 60,000 children;and in several other African countries, Malawi, Angola, North and South Sudan, and Zimbabwe, GOAL is helping many thousands more to cope with food shortages.Founded in 1977 by sports journalist John O'Shea, GOAL is working in 20 countries on such projects as emergency relief, mother & child healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, HIV/AIDS, low cost housing, and long-term development.GOAL is lucky to count among its supporters many world-class sports stars and brings the ethos of fair play to all of its activities.
