El Rincon Latino have applied to the council to extend their premises to double the size of the restaurant. Anyone who does not live on Clapham Manor St, probably does not care, from a negative point of view. Being a resident in the vicinity - this is a disaster. It is supposed to be a residential street - yet soon the road will be full of skips..no where to park...more drunken idiots squealing down the road until about 2am.WHY could they not simply get property on the high st?? Granted its a great little place, with friendly staff and average food. But no, no, no to late opening drinking holes on residential streets. If you would like to object please write to Les Brown, Lambeth Town Planning, 10 Acre Lane, London SW2 5LL - ref DC/03/01735/FUL/DC_RE.

Hallo Roo

Thanks for the alert on the El Rincon Restaurant extension. As I had been away for the past 3 weeks, I have not noted any notice put up for the extension. If possible, please advise on the date the application was put in or any other relevant details - am I right to assume that they are extending to the shoplot next door or opening up their basement or on the 1st floor?

Yes, I am totally against the idea of the extension myself as we already have to deal with the West Indian Servicemen's Club noisy parties to contend with over weekends.

Ah, Roo, perhaps you might have also been a recipient of one of my notes which were passed around the neighbourhood to rally aginst the club and their temporary license application previously?

Please let me know when and where you saw the notice - I will send a note to the council asap!

Thats a shame.  I think its a fab place but doubling the size will ruin it.  It will become just like La Rueda or whatever its called.  yuck.  Hopefully they wont get it.
