Has anyone else noticed an increasing number of people with mental health disabilities around the high street area? I'm not sure why this sad situation has been allowed to continue by the Council and local PCTs. Ever since the closure of mental health facilities in the borough and their conversion into luxury apartments (in Clapham North) people have been left to care for themselves on the street the only way they know how. The other day a woman peed standing upright on The Pavement in full view of everyone. Some weeks ago another woman pulled her pants down and peed right in front of the French Market traders as they were setting up stalls in broad daylight in front of the posh new bar 'The Gilt' on Venn Street. Im not sure our concillors know what is going on as they hardly come to the high street. Im not surprised though as one of our councillors still believes there is an MFI shop on the high street when it had closed 2 years ago. It would be good for more of us to petition the council and councillors!
