Not strictly in the High Street area, but does anyone know what is happening with Rectory Gardens, the little group of terraced houses between Rectory Grove and North Street? They are mostly derelict, I believe some have squatters in. I have just moved nearby and am curious why they are left like that, on what must be a prime site. Does someone own the site and is waiting to buy up the last few houses for re-development? They would be nice little house if refurbished, butI'm sure there's more money to be made from developing new "des res" flats.Dave.

I think various applications have been made for its development but I don't know what the outcomes were. I once knew someone who lived in one of the houses facing onto Rectory Grove and it was awful - holes in the floor, stairs/floorboards missing, generally a disgusting mess. Apparently the buildings have not had any proper work done to them since the '40s.

I don't actually know who owns the properties. Maybe they have sitting tenants?

Does anyone have an update on this? I also live on the road and find it quite puzzling. I've done some research and can't get any answers....
