RE:S100 Schnellboot Build Log

A little more done yesterday....

Wood decking in the superstructure

The mine racks/hatch over the rudder access

The forward 20 mm gun

The torpedo tube doors. A very brittle material. These took some major repair and scratch building. Lot's of time to get these back looking half way descent.

More to come later. All and any comments are appreciated........
Hope to hear from someone soon.

Some of the main structure subassemblies

Forward engine room hatches

Rear Engine room hatches and storage lockers

Area for the twin 20mm mount. Notice the weatherd wood, done with pastel chalk.

The aft superstructure with hatch, vents and hatch dodger. The dodger was scratch built as the one provided with the kit was too small

A little more done today, the armor around the bridge was installed as well as the navigation lights

Bfrom the bow looking aft, the foredeck is now ready to be finished.

The fantail is almost finished, some weathering on the hatch over the rudders. The aft superstructer is now glue in place.

Well, I hit a snag, while I was running the boat for the first time in water, I broke a blade off the center prop. The kit is no longer in production and there are no after market props available. I contacted Don at Loyalhanna Dockyard where I purchased the kit. I guess I'll send the prop back to him to see if he can do something. Seems like 3 steps forward and 2 back.

This will let me finish the boat before it goes on it's maiden voyage. That's something I really don't like. Any way I start back on the boat next week.

I've decided to try to repair the prop before I send it in to LoyalHanna, more updates coming.

The pictures above show the S-100 complete except for the torpedos and railings. Theses will be attached after sea trials this Saturday. More pictures to follow after sea tests
