Found a new book at the library - The Serpent and the Moon by HRH Princess Michael of Kent. It's about the triangle between Henry II, Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de'Medici. I've only glanced at it so far (at work right now!) but it has a section of beautiful color photos of paintings from the time period. Also black and white pictures scattered through the text. It looks quite good.
Already, I've learned that Diane and Catherine were cousins(their grandparents were brother & sister) and that Princess Michael decended from both of them. Catherine's great-great-great grandson married Diane's great(x5) granddaughter.
Princess Michael has written 2 other books: "Crowned in a far country: Portraits of Eight Royal Brides" and "Cupid and King" Five Royal Paramours". She is has lectured on historical topics for the last 10 years. Interesting, I only knew her as the royal who was always at Wimbledon.
Anyone else read her books?
