Hi guys, that there is an xl board is very cool, if not completely warented. i found an xl 175 at a garage sale the other day nd to my suprise i was allowed to bring it home, despite the better half of me not being very fond of bikes :-) how ever being of a decreped nature i had a bit to do,.. well a lot,. to do.  That was 6ish months ago and most of that had been done but i'm missing a one of my bikes vitals, which is proving very hard to come by. A Carby. I'm not sure if there is an after market one for it or weather i can get an adaptor, which i'm not all that keen for, i've heard muckin about with carby's can be terribly painful. anyway, i just thought i'd pop in and see if anyone has one laying around their shed, here's some pic's of where it's at and so on, i've got more i just have to find them, and then i'll post em.

Sorry man, I don't have an extra one.. Try the usual sources,, ebay etc.. How's the rest of the bike? Can you test fire it somehow and see if it's worth going through?
Good luck!

I looked on they're web site and seems they already sold that carb. There is another one for sale on ebay right now, item# 150308563107, its got a buy it now price $30. Current bid was like $5. Looked pretty rough, don't know if you have any experience with carbs but these are pretty easy. Found a few places that sell aftermarket that might work. www.motorcyclecarbs.com  www.motorcycleonlinestore.com  www.sudco.com  www.carbparts.com  Saw a few that might work starting at $90. Dont know how hard they would be to adapt to the xl. Yours looks just like mine before I got it all together. Pretty new at all this internet stuff but if I ever figure it out I'll post some photos. I've been buying alot of spare parts on ebay just type in xl175 the list changes almost every day. Bought  a motor for $50. Really just want to make sure to keep it running, first bike and all that. When you get yours going make sure you keep the cam chain tension adjusted right, the valves adjusted right, learn how to take off the right side engine cover to clean the spinning oil filter, you need a special socket for that you can get it from honda. Put clean oil in it and you should be able to mess around with anything else without to much worry about blowing it sky high right away. Probably be a good idea to check the compression before you do anything to make sure you have somthing to work with. Bought a manual on disc from ebay that has all the info to work on the motor for about 12 bucks. Cheaper than the clymer manual! Put a SuperTrapp muffler on mine couldn't find a stock one. Yours looks nice, I'm envious!

Here's one after i had painted the frame with a fairly dubious method. i got a fridge box and taped it all up put the fame in put two can's of enamal paint cans tape them on and shut the lid and presto near perfect paint job. didn't get any photo's unfortunatly :-(  as i was just about to move at the time.

Use photobucket to uplaod your photo's and just copy and paste the links like i did there it's pretty easy.

Thanks for yout posts too, been heaps of help so far.

The muffler on mine was unfortunaty crushed beyond repair, so i've got to look into that as well,..  :-)

Unfortunatly i think they had some encounters with some big rocks and had to patch the crank case up with some sort of alloy epoxy

If you look at item# 350121370715 on ebay its a clutch. Go to the sellers store (generation cycle) there is another carb and a bunch of other stuff. You should always check the other items that sellers have as this is where i found alot of the stuff i bought. Your frame looks real good, looks like it's well on the way! Told you i was new at the internet so if i knew what a url was or how to cut and paste or upload or anything like that i'd do it. guess i'll have to ask my kids , hate it when i have to admit to them i don't know how to do something they can do. they laugh at me and think its great! anyway this board seems kind of slow and not too many people use it so it would be cool if more would join in and keep these xls going. gotta go now DA BEARS game is getting ready to start. later
