Now, I may be slower to figure things out than the rest . But the cockleburrs are in full force right now, and I caught up a mare today to "de-burr". She had them really bad, and I mean really really bad. I was running low on Cowboy Magic and ran up to Tractor Supply to get another bottle. Sheesh, they wanted $26 for a twelve ounce bottle, much steeper than what I last paid for the stuff. So I picked up the product next to it which was $11 bucks cheaper, and decided to give it a try. It was "Vetrolin Detangler" (by Farnum) and i actually like it better than Cowboy Magic. It's thicker, sticks to the hair better. I paid mark-up, but Valley Vet sells a 12 oz bottle for $10.49.Thank God for detangler products. Without them I'd just give up and get out the clippers.

Haven't tried Vetrolin Detangler yet but you're probably right, Bettye.  If it's cheaper than Cowboy Magic Detangler & Shine it probably is better if only for that.  Both products are silicone based which is why they detangle so well.  They both say they are specially formulated not to dry out hair.  Ask any beautician or hair care specialist.  They will tell you that regardless, over time silicone has a drying effect on hair.  As long as you don't use it on a daily or ongoing basis both products should  work great  .  I'll be sure to try Vetrolin next time I need to purchase some.  I  really like most Vetrolin products that I've used.

In the meantime, anytime I find that I need to use Cowboy Magic Detangler & Shine for a quick fix,  I am sure to wash soon after.  Cowboy Magic Demineralizing Conditioner is terrific for stripping out that silicone that won't wash out with simple shampooing.

WONDERFUL!!  You found something as good or better than cowboy magic and it's cheaper!!! Now that's some news  !! Ha! I've used cowboy magic for a long time, and yes it's very expensive.  Didn't know about it making the hair dry...mmmmmmmm... that's not good, cause I never wash it out when I use it. and I just bought a new 16 oz bottle for $24...

I use suave coconut shampoo and conditioner and it works wonderful. I love it. It was recommended to us by a friend who is a trainer and shows horse's also.
