  Kentucky Horse Park Kiger Mustang Weekend 2008
   "Kigers In The Spotlight"

July 18th - 20th Kiger Sombra & Storm Kiger made the annual pilgrimage to the KY Horse Park for the Kiger Mustang Weekend. Both horses were showcased before large crowds daily. 

Storm Kiger exhibited in parade of breeds.
We were amazed at the attention the Kigers received at ringside as well as during their commute back and forth from the barn to the show arena. I couldn't guess how many photo sessions we stood and posed for daily while riding through the park. Many pictures taken were family memorabilia photos. At times we were surrounded by several kids to pose for pictures. You sure do learn to smile a lot!



Kiger Sombra performs the Spanish Walk as he exits the arena to the delight of an enthusiastic crowd.

Kiger Sombra, "the ole campaigner for his seventh year" proudly trots in the arena, while exhibited in traditional Vaquero tack.




Storm Kiger


I would like to also share a few pictures of "The Bandit" and his performance The La Garrocha, Spanish Pole Dance
.

"The Bandit's" daily performance was a special highlight of the show.




KHP 2008 Kiger Mustang Weekend was an experience we will never forget.  This unique and creative performance was an experience to always remember. I went home happy, rejuvenated and inspired. Now the goal is to work toward raising the bar to new heights  for next year's public exhibit of the Kiger Mustangs at KY Horse Park.

WOW!! You look great Melissa - as well as Sombra - Storm - and Bandit. As always - you do such a wonderful job with your horses and you guys have such presence.
 
Looks like a great event, makes me want to go out and get to training mine, but with this heat - it's hard to do anything right now.

Inspirational!!

Kudo's to you, Ellen and Rocky, and Karen and Mystic for showing such wonderful examples of Kiger's and getting them out there. It takes a lot of time and dedication to get you and your horse ready for show or events. Thanks you guys!!

Nicely done, as usual, Melissa!! And what fancy costumes and bling!


You are a continual inspiration to all of us who would be right there with you, if we could...but we know its lots of hard work, and dedication of hours on horse, on the road, and crunching the numbers to afford it.


Needless to say, although I will say it anyway, keep up the great work! Sombra, Storm, and Bandit look great, and you show them as professionally as I have ever seen anyone show horses. Kigers everywhere are benefitted by the promotion and good name you give them.

(And of course kudos to everyone else who is out riding their horses in competitive company and showing the horse world what Kigers and mustangs are capable of.)
