Maybe some readers have seen this picture before. It goes back a couple of winters.
Last week Casper did the same thing, hoping to score with a redhead. We don't know how long Kaz was hung up, must have been several hours. Too bad I didn't think to take pictures,  but Casper's hiney was in the sky  and he'd oviously been there a long time, so it just didn't occur to me. But  it didn't slip by Rick when it happened to Silvy,   and he got this picture.

I sure am glad these horse's have such good common sense, even if their libido does get them in trouble sometimes. If either Silvy or Casper were the flighty types, they would have snapped their hind legs in a panic.   At least Casper might have, our gate was a lot stouter than the one in Rick's picture and Casper's rear end was as high as his ears. Fortunately both horses had the good sense to wait to be rescued.

Rick, now I remember when this happened...the filly on the left was the one I traded you! Musta been winter of 2003? Just before  Silvy turned ten? Casper  turned ten today, how ironic.

After Spring foaled with Chica, she was pissy with the my daughter's horses on the other side of the fence. She and Miley got into it over the fence and Spring swung around and kicked the fence so high that she ended up with her butt in the air and both hind legs stuck. Fortunately, we were standing there when it happened, and I keep fence tools, including  wire cutters right in the stable so we know where they are in an emergency. Spring did not move once she was hung up and stayed perfectly calm, and walked away quietly when released, despite being in a tantrum when it happened. Talk about your attitude adjustment. We then ran some electrified rope about three feet from the regular fence on the side the other horses were on so they could not get close to the fence between them.

They do have common sense.
