Here is Kiger Zorya. I'm assuming she's dun, but haven't seen eyes like hers before. She's a very sweet & petite filly. Xana's being an awesome mom and getting more comfortable with me in there everyday.

OH!! How precisous. She looks so sweet!!  Great pic's!! How did you get her foaling? Must have had an hawk eye on her - sometimes they can be sneaky and foal when you step away.

I was out that evening to free lunge her to help with her edema. She didn't show signs as much as my Arab mare does, so figured she was still a week away. She chose to do a nice western jog and didn't even work up a sweat. After she rolled, she was lifting her tail in an unusual way and leaking small amounts of urine. I took her up to be groomed and she kept this up. I called an experienced friend to confirm this was the very beginings of labor, as my other mare doesn't show this way. I ran home for dinner and to bundle up for a night of watch and grab the camera and headed back out. She foaled about 11pm. I felt very blessed to be there to help and witness.

Congratulations!  What a sweet face, she's going to be a charmer.  You know how much trust that took on Xana's part to foal with you there!

I DO know! Xana is amazing! She's getting better about me being in there with her and Zora. She's fine until Zora wants to escape. Right now it's safer to just let her go, but as Xana gets used to the antics, I'll start pushing more on the foal handling.

Any comments on the eye color? Some have said possible grulla...

I dunno, S....we've had grulla babies that were born grulla and also some that looked dun until they shed.  Jusy enjoy her (mom looks so proud)!

Any update on your filly?  Did you decide what color she will be?

I'm pretty sure she's dun and probably light like Xana. They are both doing well. Xana has gotten over the new mommy protectiveness and allows us to do anything with Zorya. They been walked over tarps, hosed down, and taken for walks to the 1acre turn out pasture. It's been sooo hot here that I shaved Zorya to her shoulders. She looked just misserable sweating with her long coat. She handled it very well and looks so cute! Her neck seems to be lengthening too! I'm hoping to get photos of her new look tonight. In the meantime, here are a few. Many more, including the dramatic chase scene of Xana disciplining Zorya, can be seen at http://public.fotki.com/juslyn/xana/
