 Hello all, newbie here. This is my 1981 Silverburst V (along with the rest of the gang). I've had it about 4 years and got it for about half the going rate (£750). It has the original case and bill of sale from Manny's. I've put Bareknuckle pups in it, but have kept the originals. I find it a weird and wonderful guitar and will never part from it.

 Thanks for the welcome. I'm afraid I'm no longer in a position financially to be buying guitars like I used to. Besides because I have eclectic tastes musically so I've ended up with an eclectic collection all different makes and different styles. That doesn't stop me from being a big V fan though. This thing fascinates me. It has such an individual sound. The big rout and tight pickguard seem to give a touch of a semi-acoustic sound. Sound wise it changed massively when I put the BK pups in giving it a much wider range and clearer tones. This guitar also cured me of the need to have necks that are wide at the nut. This is about as narrow as it gets and yet remains supremely playable, lovely neck. Another thing which interests me is that it seems to sustain more than you'd expect for a guitar of this weight. In the end I decided it it could be that the amount of wood south of the bridge helps the overall balance and helps it ring. I'd be interested to hear your opinions on the sustain thing.

I used to think that a heavy guitar facilitated sustain, but it seems to be not the case.  I think alot of tone comes from the quality of the neck, and I'm halfway convinced that it's the luck of the draw.

V's are (typically) light though for an instrument that comes in something larger than a Bass case.

 Yes, it's the japanese reissue of the George Harrison "let It Be" Tele. Mines from the 1st year of production 1985. Still sounds like a Tele, but with Les Paul tendencies. It's a heavy old beast weighing in at about 10 pounds.
