Strange guitar. But I'm not suprised anymore. Can it be that they try to make the low end guitars so repulsive that we have to spend our money on the customs? I like the blocks though.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry over that one.

Looking at the collective body of work that Gibson puts out, once cannot say that they are sitting still.
Yes, everyone gripes and kvetches every time they try something new, and posts things like "Gibson R&D should be shot fired and shot again", but, hey, they're trying.  I'm sure they could get on making Les Pauls and SG's and 335's forever, but I personally appreciate that they try new things.

From the Eye, to the Reverse and Holy instruments, subtle variations on classic themes like the above.  Heck, the Flying V's we love so much started as one of these same deals and was met with as much "this sucks, they're insane" at the time.  I don't like them all, but I do find it odd that pretty much every time they come up with something, everyone wants to trash it right away.

Jeesus.  I'm going to go have a Sidecar, because apparently, as guitar players, we're stuck in the 50's.

Well ok, you're right Jef. At least it'll stay better in tune with a Floyd:)

I personally thought the Eye was neat.  I thought it had interesting stylistic appointments.  I think things like the Holy V are just silly.  I think the BFG Les Paul was an interesting concept.  I think doing unique things with finishes is interesting and a good idea, but hey they can be creative and not be silly.

The Zoot Suit SG is just absurd.  Birch laminate doesn't even sound like it would work.  I mean Dear God, look at it.

Thanks Gibson!
