Fooled me. But I'm relieved that there's an intact fretboard under there.

Not my preferred mod, but it does look really good.

It's lovely. Sets off the red hair and tats nicely too.

It's worth $144 bucks if you're willing to pay $144 bucks.  Out of print books are just like old guitars that way. And of course, getting the older edition of the same book ensures... um... that you don't get the added information/value of the new edition? But it smells older... Score!

Leave it alone. I cherish every single chunk and dent I ever knocked out/put into my V. (Even if somebody else did the damage, I'd leave it as is).

And whatever you wind up doing to it, it'll be worth more than $140 bucks.  It might never recoup your investment in fixing it -- but hell, you'll have a legit Flying V. Have fun.

Sorry, Aimoo doesn't like the link.  Just check Sam Ash's website.  I assume they won't last that long.

And it plays pretty darn well too.

On a whim I bought one today (after getting Guitar Center to knock 70 bucks off the price) to keep my '78 company -- anybody have any idea how 'limited' these limited Epi Vs and Explorer basses are?  I know, usually, it's limited to as many as they can sell, but I just thought I'd ask.  Not a bad little bass, by the way.

I'm gonna assume, for you to dump any of your Vs, that you bought something fairly fabulous. Care to give us a clue?

Got back from Tokyo last week. Rushed (wife; two kids, no one with guitar interest but me) so I couldn't hit the stores, but I managed to stumble into one shop in Shibuya, with Edwards V basses for just less than 900 bucks.  They looked lovely, but I had no time to play them... Has anyone got any experience with the current Edwards basses? Figuring 120 dollars to move them to the States (for a total of 1110 dollars, 785 Euros, 676 quid, though we'll be able to do a bit better after subtracting VAT -- I think about 5 percent) , do we think they might be worthwhile?  I'd really like a bass to go along with my '78...

Wait -- you've had it for four months (as far as I can tell) and you haven't played it through an amp yet, though you seem to own a couple of amps?  Am I somehow misunderstanding this?  If you turn on your vintage Fender and play the V, say, at very low volume, what could you conceivably damage?  Just asking...
