This is the real thing. A standard Cherry with Gloss finish. Nice!

Have a 91. It's great.

I've talked a lot about this with the local Gibson dealer in Stockholm sweden. They say that there's a big quality difference on Gibsons after 92-93. This is all because the success of G'n'R and Slash bringing back Gibson on the market to compete with the 80's banana headstock guitars like Jackson, kramer and so on. Apparently Gibson started to do better guitars just before the mid 90's. I can not in anyway confirm this as I see no difference between a 91 and a 95 V but of course theres a really big difference from the 80's designer series. Try a few and see what you think. In my opinion the standard RI's are very different from guitar to guitar. I don't think that you can buy just any RI. I've seen very bad guitars and very good. They year doesn't seem to be the problem though.

For strange reasons some of the V's have paint on the binding. Look at the custom colors. The binding shows as a very thin line over the paint. The pre-binding guitars 75-79 have paint all the way up to the edge of the fretboard which is not found on any other gibsons after that period. I'd say yours is original. Damn good price!!

I don't like these. The one I tried was very crappy. Bad finish, very bad flat sound, cracks in the neck joint and a strapbutton fell out as I turned it around. Also very hard to tune and the locking tuners did not hold the tuning. The guy in the store told me they had had another one with the same issues.

Thanks for the insight on the '67s - I've seen pics in various places, & it always seems hard to see the neck joint from the side. I'm assuming the Custom Shop Historics have the correct joint & body thickness? I really would like to get one of those, but $$ don't permit.

I played a CS historic and a real 68 right after. They are very similiar. The headstock shape on the CS is not exact (a little bit more flat on the top on the CS) and some small details differ but they feel VERY close. Neck and body thickness, nut wid and so on are almost the same. Gonna get a Historic one day to.

There's no difference between the parallel rise on my LE and my std's. I haven't measured it but it looks to be the same. Absolutely not the big difference you are talking about.  Exact same guitar in all but the oval decal.

No 67´s don't have the raised board. It's angled and reminds of the RI's but mayby a little bit more raised. Body is almost as thin as the 70's though. But the 69 prototype first ed short headstock are raised and parallel. It lacks the volute but seem to be the same guitar as the medallion.

No different raise on the necks of my 75std, 76LE, 79std, 80std.

The limited is a much better guitar though. Sustain and resonans beats the others easily. Explanation I got is that the LE is what the gibson Custom shop became. Another thought is about colors. Are the Black and Whites all LE?

That looks really great! Good price to. Like it should be.

I'd go for the SPH90-1. Looks good, sounds great. I friend of mine put some on his LP custom along with a bigsby. His very pleased.

The thing is I don't believe it went for 3000. Sure the bid is there but that might be a friend of them.

Hm.. sold for 3000. One bid?? Someone is trying to push prices for future sales? It can't be that a refin goes that high.

One can have fun with a couple of stickers..he he. Bought some from a japanese seller. Works really good and looks absolutely real on stage. Of course I will probably peel them of soon as I do prefere the original look but for the upcoming tour it will ad some atmosphere to the show.

What do you think of these inlays?

Posted on 21-10-2009 01:35:03

Man thats's sweet! That's exactly what I want.. but no money. Some odd things are the bound, block fretboard and that the oversized guard seem to be not rounded like the other custom 67's. But this might be the best looking V I have ever seen.

Someone needs a hug..

To me it really looks like the neck on Marc's is unfinished just like the KK signature. Black back of the headstock. Didn't know this either. It clears why some of the custom reissues have natural necks.

Very nice! Hope this model is better than the shred V. The color is fantastic. Have you thougth of adding a pickguard, mayby a 58 style?

..do they even try? I've told him but I guess this is the kind of guy that will argue on forever.
